Engine Breaking

Still haven’t determined whether I like the EBS or not on my 570 SP. I previously had an 08 500 EFI which had ADC. I loved ADC because I live on a super steep property in Colorado, and have used it quite a bit. That’s was one (not only) of the reasons I went with the SP as I really wanted ADC.

When first started driving my new 570 SP I was shocked at the normal engine breaking (non ADC). I swear, the normal engine breaking is like driving my old 08 with the ADC on. I haven’t had mine long enough to use ADC on my new ride. But man, I wonder if I’ll even need it because the normal engine braking brings you to a stop quick. It’s even tough for newbies to try my 570 SP because they don’t expect such a severe braking by simply letting fully off the throttle.

I don’t think I ever wear out my break pads, I hardly ever need to touch the brake for anything other that high-speed slow downs. I’m getting used to decelerating, rather than a full throttle let off. But I sort of which that EBS could be turned off – just like you don’t have ADC on until you intentionally turn it on. And machines with ADC – why even put EBS on them because there is always the option to switch over to ADC.

Am I nuts here? Are there people with SP that actually like the standard EBS?

Easter weekend ride at St Joe State Park.

My son-n-law,a good buddy and myself got out this past weekend and had a great ride at St Joe State Park in Park Hills,Mo. My son-n-law has a Camo 09 700 Grizzly and my buddy has a AC 400 (new Grizzly 700 in his near future). This park is about a 1.5 hr SW drive from the St Louis area. It was once a lead mine and now has been turned into a 2000 acre ORV park including great camping area, four small lakes, two with swimming beaches, asphalt biking trail, and picnic areas. The riding area consist of open sand area and trails thru the woods. Some trails are pretty open, some are very tight, and some are really rocky. The trails are all hilly also. Very little clay mud here. The parks also has a free power wash to clean your machine at the end of the day. Anyway I thought I would post a few pictures of us playing on the trails.

What Fluid Did I Drain?!

Attempting to drain the counter balance oil but a few ounces of green fluid came out. The plug is on the bottom just forward of the starter. It’s a 10mm plug with a Phillips slot. Angled about a 45 degrees compared to the floor. After closer inspection it appear to below the output shaft to the primary clutch. I think the counter balance oil drain plug is a few inches closer to the centerline. Any ideas on what and where to fill the green fluid from?

Removable winch mounts

I would like to see if anyone has pictures of front & rear winch mounts, other than stock. Would like to keep the winch movable from front to rear on my 11′ 800 sportsman, possibly same thing for the wife’s 11′ X2. Thanks for ideas

Easter Riding with my son… and his hilarious commentating!!!

Well Colton and I went for a small ride on Easter. We had a very enjoyable time! First we went down the road to a field to let him rip around in. I got him started on leaning into the curves, as well as making sure he keeps control while going over bumpy terrain. Also made sure he knew the boundaries of the field. Once I did that I turned him loose!! He did great and had a ball! He eventually got brave enough and did a few ‘speed runs’ lol.

Then we went back up the road and I let him play on a small ditch. He loved that. Then Mandy Pulled up and she filmed the last shot, then we all went to the house for Easter Dinner!! I’d rather do this than watch him hunt Easter eggs!!

While in the field, he pulled up and said he wanted to video me. He has never done that before so I said sure why not . He said he wanted me to do wheelies. Well…… Don’t necessarily watch the video for my ‘amazing talent’, watch it for his ‘amazing commentary’!!! LOL

Keeping wiring neat

Hey everyone, first time poster here.

I recently bought some supplies to run some of those adhesive LED light strips and am ready to give it a go. My plan is to install them on the inside lid of my storage/passenger box and pass the wiring directly underneath to the battery. I’ve got some male/female terminals so I can remove the box without having to undo any wiring. I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll hook up an in-line fuse directly to the battery or if I’ll tap into the accessory power line which is already on a 10a fuse (my winch is also tapped into this line so it’s only hot when the ignition is on). Suggestions are appreciated here. The lights are rated for 12v but I have no idea how many watts they actually put out yet.

Ideally, I’d like to run all the wiring and install the toggle switch so that I can keep everything hidden and weather proof in the hollow of the moulded plastic in the box. My concern here is that there’s no easy way for me to get to that area without cutting away some of the plastic. I’m OK with doing that, but I have no idea how I’d reattach things and keep it looking neat. Caulking is about all I’ve been able to come up with and I imagine it’ll be clumsy at best.

I’d appreciate any advice and/or product/material suggestions. I’ll attach some photos in a few minutes to help illustrate what it is I’m trying to do exactly.

Dobeck fuel controller

TFI GEN 2

Is this the simplest way to go? I am looking for a controller for dumbies so to speak. Just want to put a slip on exhaust and go. Will I need to adjust anything with this one or is it setup perfectly for just a slip on? Just looking for better rumble no so much performance. 1000 XT has plenty of power for me already.

Thanks!
