New here, ive searched the forum but havnt found what im looking for exactly. I just got a 2010 polaris sportsman 550 EPS and I need to change the shift shaft. The linkage is stripped and I have a new one, but the teeth and threads on the shift shaft are all tore up as well. It appears vice grips may have been used to get it back in gear or something. What exactly do I need to do to change the shift shaft out? Do I need to pull the transmission or is there a simpler way? Thanks for the help.

Okay, so its been running great, and still does for the most part, its a 2006 450. btw. but i was driving the other day coming into a open field and the whole guage cluster went blank and the quad died. luckily it came back on and fired up. but the speedo was going crazy and eventually stopped working all together.. bare with me here. well i went back and checked the gopro footage and realized the speedometer was not working for the whole ride. EVERYTHING else works fine, just no speedo and i jacked all 4 wheels off the ground and hit the throttle and all wheels spin while the switch is in 2×4. is it supposed to do that??? im very confused right now. I am dropping it off at the dealers tomorrow for them to replace my ECM for the warranty, so any other input would be great! and thank you. Not a whole lot of options. I tend to prefer camo for durability reasons, but not available. Wondering how the Gold mist LE color from 2014 is working out.

Also are there many changes from the 2014 to the 2016 in the touring 850?

I’m currently looking for a service manual for my 2009 Sportsman 800 Touring.
The quad is currently burning oil and I need the torque specs for the entire top end before I go ripping it apart.
If anyone has a copy that would be great.
Also is there a general problem with these engines burning oil? (I see i’m not the only one) and also is there a set cause for it?

Ok so anyone who has ridden for much time has learned the valuable lesson of "if shit goes bad on a hill NEVER hit the back brake just hit the front". So how does that work on the Polaris Sportsman’s with one brake lever. If you are stalled on a hill and grab that lever are you going to flip because your back brake was initiated or not flip because it initiates both front and back brakes. Just curious.

I have a 2004.5 Sportsman 500 HO that I need to stiffen up the rear suspension (front it just fine). I have already installed 140Lb HD springs, but its still sags in the back with minimum load. I’m a Im a big guy, 265Lbs, and when I take my 50Lb granddaughter on a ride just the extra 50 lbs makes the ATV want to go straight in turns because it seems the front is not getting enough traction. With just me, its sort of ok, but put anything on the back and it seems not good. So, whats the best alternative, spring spacers? lift kit, etc? all ideas welcome.

I have a 2010 Sportsman 500 HO that when you put it in gear acts as if the brakes are still applied. When you shift to N , the machine feels like it is still in gear but you can barely roll it. I did raise the rear end off the ground, and when you give it some gas, right as the wheels start to turn it sounds like metal slapping but I couldn’t pin point it. I have removed the rear brakes, tires and the wheel hub. The CV shaft is hard to turn as well. Any thoughts?

I recently bought a Jeep CJ7 and am looking to sell my 2006 Sportsman 450. I’ve looked up blue book to get a starting price on what to ask for it but I’ve run into a roadblock. They go by average condition and mileage which I’ve heard is anywhere between 800-1000k miles a year. My Polaris has spent it’s entire life in the garage on a battery tender and only had 56 hours on it and 492 miles. How much does that factor into the price?
