How to: Fix your girly 1/2 ton truck (easy)
In 2013 I bought my first half ton truck, a Ram 1500 sport. Nice truck, terrible on gas couldn’t haul anything with the 5′ box…..I’ve only ever had Cummins trucks, still have my 24v. SO after 2 years of kicking myself in the rear end for buying this girly 1500, I’ve finally figured out the solution to my problem. Albeit an expensive solution, it was quite simple.

Now, to flip the tow mirrors and haul my imaginary trailer….

10W50HD oil report
Hope this works.
Water in filter housing/ oil
Well my filter housing came loose yesterday and ended up getting some water in it, about 1/3 – 1/2 full. The machine did not die just seemd to be starved for air so I shut down and checked it out and when I opened the cap of it all the water poured out. Was going to just change the filter but when I got back to the machine with the new filter I thought I would check on the oil just to make sure there wasn’t any water in it, but sure enough the oil was milky looking so it took a good 6 hours to get it to a spot I could get it into my truck.
So I don’t know a whole lot about this stuff just yet but will be figuring it out tomorrow, I know I’ll have to drain my oil numerous times (was suggested to fill it with a mix of 50/50 of oil and jet fuel since we have lots around to clean it out a few times) and I’ll probably take all my intake ducting apart and clean it all up, I suppose I should also take the spark plugs out and turn it over to clear the water (never done this before).
Is there anything else you would suggest doing to make sure that everything is as it should be by the time I’m done with these repairs?

I should say that I don’t think much water made it past the filter but I’m sure some did as it’s made it’s way into the oil.
Any help with this is much appreciated as I don’t exactly know what I’m doing just yet.

Quick release setup & steering wheel?
I’m 6’4" and would prefer to have the steering wheel stay in the stock location with the quick release option. I’ve always liked dragon fire parts but from what I’ve read their setup puts the steering wheel closer to you (old threads maybe this has changed). Which brands offer the quick release but keep the wheel in the stock location?
Also, any recommendations on a good wheel in the $100-$150 range? What material do you recommend for the steering wheel?
Convert a Touring to a one up
Since 99.9% of the time I ride one up, I don’t need the backrest part of the Touring seat. I didn’t buy a Touring with the intentions of carrying a passenger, I bought it for the stability that the longer wheelbase offers. The backrest is in the way of putting a rack bag on. However, the 570 backrest doesn’t just pop out like the XP backrest does. The bracket that holds it in place is also part of the main seat mount, with the grommets that the seat snaps into to hold it in place.
It’s a simple matter of removing four screws to remove the bracket, but you must replace it with another plate. Easy to fab one up and install, and just as easy to put the backrest back on if you ever wanted to. I used a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate, which is plenty since the plate doesn’t really support any weight to speak of. With my cargo bag mounted, it acts as a backrest if I ever need to carry a passenger.
