Rancher Footwells

New member here with my first post. I recently bought a 2014 Rancher, Manual Shift, and don’t understand the thinking behind the foot wells. Why is it made with a hole behind the foot peg? Obviously there needs to be space in front of the pegs to shift and depress the brake but I see no good reason for it behind. Initially, I thought I wouldn’t mind it too much since I’m used to riding motorcycles where the foot peg is all there is but I’ve also had plenty of experience on other ATVs with a filled-in foot well area. The added stability and comfort from not needing to balance on the small peg is very nice. I ended up removing the pegs and welding some square tubing and 1" flat steel together to fill the space in.

Does anyone out there like Honda’s design?

A little tweek to the exaust

Wondering what’s the best route to improve the sound and aittle more umph would be a welcomed suprise without making alot of changes. Looked at just replacing the spark arrester with a aftermarket that advertises to be all that but alittle hard to beleive. Dont want to spend alot of money, but would like a little beefier sound and more power is always nice but dont want to do anything that may hurt the machine. Any suggestions?

Electrical question

400 polaris 2 stroke. 1999
I have manual, so don’t post telling me to buy one..
Problem is, changed rectifier because old one had melted hole. I have no neutral light but my revers light works. My awd does not work, fan does not work but my rad pump works. I have no battery, I keep dead battery connected to keep my lines from bouncing around and touching frame etc.
I changed main fuse.
So the other day I jumped my atv with truck and used electric start. Worked fine. Still no other electrical including lights. Were do I begin or do I need battery?? Could have all my lights actually blowen include the awd light? Just not sure wtf is going on. Btw manual is useless in this case.
Any help ! Thx

New to Rene.

New to the Rene world but not this forum, wasn’t happy with my 800 Outty and just traded it in for an ’15 800 XXC Rene, can’t wait to get her out and take it through its paces, more comfortable already just from test driving it. On another note, anyone know if an HMF Performance exhaust from an ’15 Outty will fit on my new Rene?

JBS shipping/order time?

I ordered some slugs about 10-11 days ago and got a confirmation on the order, but no shipping info, as in shipped or expected to ship on xxx date. I have no tracking info either. I have sent a couple emails with no response and also called last week. I was told they shipped on Thursday (4-16-15), and I should have them possibly Saturday but most likely Monday (4-20-15). I was also told I should get an email with tracking info. I haven’t yet and it is Wednesday. She did say they had some issues with the computer setup and had just become grandparents so my order had not shipped as fast as usual. I am not complaining, just curious on what the average turn around time for sluggs ONLY from JBS is. I am in North Florida for location info. Not a complaint, just wondering if I should be worried they are lost in transit, or if there is usually no follow up email with shipping info sent out on the orders. Thanks.

Front Hub Upgrade

Learned this from a previous thread. I found a broken front hub on my 09 S when changing the front bearings. One member mentioned the front hub and bearing upgrade for 2008 and 2009 800’s which I had never heard of. Found the kit on EBay for $135 which included 2 new front hubs part number 513729 and 2 new front bearings part number 3514699. As can be seen there is a big difference between the 2009 hub and the newer version.
