Just bought a used 2007 Sportsman 500 cc (Browning Edition)
I bought it from a dealer who just got it in on a trade. Before I bought it, I took it for a few laps around the dealership and it seemed to run pretty good. It had good acceleration, wasn’t clunking and the breaks worked decent. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was a rattling noise. It wasn’t there at idle, or when I got up to speed, but while accelerating it was there. I stopped the bike and the owner of the dealership and I started shaking parts of the bike and it seemed like the shifter was knocking against the exhaust heat guard and making the noise. I jammed a piece of cardboard between the shifter and the exhaust and when I tested it again the noise was probably 75% gone so I’m hoping that’s all that the noise was.
I pick the bike up on Saturday. What should I do when I get it? Oil change obviously, check the air filter… what else? I want to get it all cleaned up before I start hitting the trails with it. I want to find out if there’s anything wrong with it. I’m hoping to keep this bike for a long time and slowly build it into a mud machine.
Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Honda TRX300W information and questions… newbie!
I recently acquired my first four wheeler. It’s a 1998 TRX300W. It needs some work, and I am having trouble locating the correct parts.
I have noticed that there are many different suffixes when it comes to these wheelers, and I want to make sure I am getting the right parts (which I imagine means identifying the right suffix or model).
I literally cannot find anything on the TRX300 "W". I believe this wheeler is 2 wheel drive with an automatic clutch.
Also, its going to need front and rear brakes, a batt, and some misc tune up parts. I am not familar if OEM or aftermarket is better. Any assistance on where to purchase parts and what brand? Ebay actually seems to have some good prices.
Thanks!

Where did this thread go? Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act
Dear Scott:
Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to H.R. 996, the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA). I agree with you and welcome the opportunity to respond.
As you may know, this legislation was introduced by Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-New York) on February 13, 2015. The bill would designate 23 million acres of land in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming as components of the National Wilderness Preservation System. H.R. 996 has been referred to the House Natural Resources Committee, where it awaits further consideration. No similar legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate.
I have serious concerns with NREPA because it would supplant local, community-based efforts to effectively manage our federal public lands in the West. If NREPA were signed into law, it would override longstanding, community-based efforts that seek to balance the many appropriate uses of our public lands with conservation and environmental protections. As such, I cannot support NREPA.
Like you, I agree that one-size-fits-all approaches to public lands management, mainly by directives from Washington, D.C., take us in the wrong direction. Rather, I support public land management solutions that are formulated and supported by local communities and organizations. These collaborations should guarantee multiple use and recreation, conservation, and adequate environmental protection. I have worked throughout my time in Congress to support these types of measures, such as the Owyhee Initiative, as well as other stakeholder driven, collaborative efforts. Please rest assured that I will continue to do so to ensure effective stewardship of our public lands.
Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to contact me in the future on this or other matters of interest to you. For more information about the issues before the U.S. Senate as well as news releases, photos and other items of interest, please visit my Senate website, U.S. Senator Mike Crapo.
Sincerely,
Mike Crapo
