I have had two belts go on me the last one only lasted about an hour. I believe this may be do to me not breaking it in properly, first one my clutch broke. on both belt failures the cord was wrapped up in both clutches to the point they had to remove both the primary and secondary to remove belt cords.
How are you guys changing your belts out on the trails?, i had a spare gates belt the second time but could not get the cords out of secondary clutch, also the sheeves were all marked up so i didn’t want to install the new gates belt.when i use the clutch tool to open up secondary it snaps shut and seems impossible to accomplish without a second set of hands.
I will be pulling both clutches and cleaning them, I will be doing the recommended break in from hunter works so hopefully i won’t be changing a belt for a long time. It just seems about impossible to me to change a belt out on the trail.
I was out riding my ’15 xp1k today and noticed my hub was loose on the driver side rear wheel. I popped the center cap off and found that there was no cotter pin going through the castle nut, allowing it to back off. The other three hubs all had them but that one rear wheel didnt. Luckily I noticed it before it got too bad and damaged something, or worse. I have never taken off the wheels or anything since I bought it so that means it came like that. Might be a good idea to check yours out just in case. It takes less than a minute with stock wheels. :ok:
So thinking about trading my 700xx off since i never ride the thing for an enduro bike. Just would like your guys input on the value of my quad vs a trade im considering.
My quad.
I have a 2008 (bought new in 2009) Honda TRX700xx all black quad. Has Alba full Pipe, intake, and Programmable ECU programer. also other upgrades: pro taper handlebars, hand guards, aluminum front bumper.
This quad has basically no hours on it. I have taken it out for a total of 5 half day easy rides. It has been stored in a garage its whole life. The origonal tires, have full knobbies, they look almost new.
Trade im interested in:
2005 Ktm 525 mxc odometer: 2500 paint color : orange fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean
05 ktm 525 factory street legal bike plated blast to ride
Lexx carbon exhaust
nuckle busters
Bigger pegs
New grips
2,500 miles
Newer tires
Led signals and tail light
Aftermarket seat
I think this is a fair trade. Just want to make sure they are pretty close to equal value. Also would like any of your guys input on the ktm 525.
My primary clutch makes a fairly loud knocking noise at idle and on shutdown, with the belt cover off it is extremely loud. After a awhile of driving it will sometimes sqeak/sqeal time to time. While driving it doesn’t seem very noisy at all.
It can be a little jerky on takeoff but nothing extreme, it also likes to grind changing gears often. Otherwise it performs fine.
Does it sound rebuildable or better off the order a new one. Also by my mod list is there anything different then a bone stock primary to help the 800 out a lil more.
BTW my secondary seems fine for now so I’d like to save some money and leave it alone for now.
had to drain the belt housing should I be concerned? Nothing went in the intakes but there was still some water in there. 2400 kms still stock tires and belt from factory year 2009. Yeah doesn’t get ridden much.
This is the first time I have seen water in there. I can’t figure out where it came from. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
