Over filled engine oil…
I overfilled my 2008 Big Bear with engine oil when I put new oil in. On the stick (with the dip stick just resting in the hole) the oil level shows a little above the max fill mark. I’m going riding tomorrow and don’t have time to drain it, so is there any harm in running one day like this. I assume any excess pressure will just throw oil out the breather tube.
Thoughts?
Thanks
2002 Rancher 350ES odd shifting problem
I have a 2002 Honda Rancher 350 ES that has an odd shifting problem. When you start up the bike it shifts perfectly, but after a couple of minutes it stops shifting with the electric shift at all. The only way to get it to work is to turn the ignition off and start the bike up again and it will shift for a few more minutes. I have had trouble with the main fuse blowing regularly, but it doesn’t seem to correspond with the electric shift stopping working. I haven’t got a monitor hooked up at the moment because it was smashed when I got it, so I can’t see any error codes. I have an 05 Rancher ES I was going to switch over some parts to narrow down the problem, but I was curious to see if anyone else had had this problem before and had a solution before I start switching parts over. Any help would be much appreciated.
2005 Honda Rancher 350ES engine knocking
I have a 2005 Honda Rancher 350ES that has a knocking noise in the engine. It sounds like it is coming from the top end, but with all the other noises of a running engine it is hard to pinpoint it exactly. I have had the engine apart, checked the valve adjustment, checked the piston, piston rings, and the cylinder, and the timing chain, and everything is fine. I’m out of options, and to the extent of my knowledge. Someone had suggested that it may be my crankshaft, but does that sound right? I tried shaking the piston rod up and down while I had the top end off but there didn’t seem to be any movement suggesting that the rod was loose on the crankshaft. How could I check to see if it is the crankshaft? How do I take the crankshaft out? Any help would be much appreciated.
These are a few of my favorite things…
Ok, what was the most important reason you bought a 570 or what is your favorite feature. Only one, I know it’s hard.
For me it was price, this is my first ATV, so being able to get into a bike like this with all of the features was outstanding.
Should I be worried about break in?
I got my bike and had no time to use it yet, my buddy’s are going on a all day snow/mud run. Should I go? Or do what the manual suggests for a break in?
Pitbull rockers.
I put my pitbull rockers on Itp 112’s up for sale in the classifieds. Bought a turbo maverick and since they are only 26.5" they are a little small. These are the best trail tires I ever used. Wish they were bigger. They sure woodnt be for sale. So if anyone is looking for a great set of used pit bulls check them out.
Rear brake bleeds off.
I got on my bike tonight and used the rear brake to keep my bike from rolling down my driveway. After about 4 seconds of holding the pedal down the pedal would go down and the bike would start rolling. The bike was rolled backwards down a hill recently and this never happened before it rolled. It’s almost acting like there is air in the line. The bike is a ’14 sportsman 800. Any thoughts as to why my rear brake suddenly won’t keep pressure for more than 4 or 5 seconds?
What’s your thoughts on this
I’ve been working on getting my 2004 atp 500 running right. I’m almost there but still have a problem with the thing running lean.
It starts easily (when choked) but misses and backfires when revved up. Hard to get it to idle when warmed up with no choke.
I’ve gone over it several times and have not found an air leak.
I have replaced the carb with a NEW Polaris OEM Mukini BST. I assume that it was properly adjusted at the factory. Bad assumption?
I also replaced a scored exhaust rocker arm. Checked the cam and compression release. Both are ok.
However, I may not have it timed correctly. Had trouble finding tdc by looking in timing inspection hole.
So is it a carb issue or timing?
All ideas are appreciated.
