Has anyone successfully installed a wireless winch remote to their bike that has a limit switch for the plow? I am trying to install a Warn wireless remote to control my winch to my 2015 Xmr 800. When I purchased the bike, I had the dealer install the Alpine Flex plow which has a limit switch (Cable Saver) that automatically stops the winch from winding in when the plow is in the raised position.
The problem I’m having is, that the Warn instructions show a black and green wire coming from the rocker switch that is connected to the black and green wire coming from the back of the solenoid. The four wires from the Warn module are supposed to be connected to the switch and the solenoid. Fairly simple, but….the wires coming from my rocker switch are blue and green, and the wires coming from the back of the solenoid are connected to a red and green wire attached to the limit switch relay!
I’ve attached one picture of how the wiring is connected and the winch operates fine. The second picture is with the Warn module connected. In this scenario, the wireless winch remote works fine, and the "out" on the rocker works fine but I the "in" does not work. I’ve also attached an image of the cable saver limit switch relay wiring.
My 08 800 has had some intermittent starting problems since last spring, I’ve pretty much eliminated everything but the multifunction switch, I’ve read that this can give some problems because it’s not completely waterproof and the copper staple can become corroded, I had to jump the solenoid to start my quad almost all day on Saturday except when I started it up first thing in the morning when it was good and dry, after a little moisture it failed again. I was wondering if anyone had replaced one before or knows of a procedure to do so? I had a good look at it this winter when I knew it was going to be an issue and it looks like a lot has to come off. Any tips and or procedures would be greatly appreciated!
