I just purchased a 2001 scrambler 4 by 4 and the clutch seems to not engage till the rpm’s go up. this is my first automatic atv, I’ve had sleds but this is the first atv, it just seems like the take off should be smoother.
Hey all km not new to the can am world just to this world. ..don’t be hating on my cause my name it’s just what I use on other forums..I’ve goat a rhino 2 banshees and an outlander 800 which is hurting right now ….I’ve be started a thread in the outlander section as no power if anyone could help …thanks all
I just ordered an HMF slip on exhaust, HMF jet kit, and UNI air filter. My bike’s engine is stock and I’m at sea level. I’m looking for help on a starting point for the carb.
From what I’ve read the basic HMF jet kit consist of only three different sized main jets and the stock main jet is a 130. What main jet should I install after the mods? And should I adjust the needle and air/fuel screw, if so, which settings?
I’ve jetted a KLX250 and a WR450 before but there was a lot of great starting points listed for those bikes at different elevations and engine mods. But Im having a hard time finding details on the carb for the Rancher 350.
I understand this would only be for reference and I have to read the spark plug to make sure I’m not too lean or too rich. I’m just looking for a good starting point.
I have also emailed HMF direct asking the same questions and I’m waiting for there response, but I wanted to ask here as well.
Thanks in advance for the help.
And I will post up pictures of the mods and install once the parts come in.
So, I was rebuilding my carb. I noticed that apparently the BST-40 (?) on this particular quad has I believe the pilot air screw hidden under a plug. So I drilled it out and pulled the plug to remove the screw so the carb bath wouldn’t ruin the rubber o-ring and the passage could be cleaned. All went well, except I somehow managed to lose the tiny little washer that was between the spring and the o-ring on this screw. It might have gone down the drain with the ultrasonic bath water, not sure. Anyway, since I guess no one was ‘supposed’ to be messing with this screw, there’s no part information on the breakdown on the parts sites like Partzilla, etc. So my question is, does anyone happen to know where I might find an OEM Mikuni part number for that washer, or its specs so I can grab something at the hardware store? Perhaps another bike that used the same carb and didn’t cover this particular screw? I’m a little worried about trying to just find something that seems to fit. Searching for BST-40 really only seems to return the ‘bible’ for it, without much other help that I can find.
Took the xmr out on saturday, 16 hrs on the clock. While riding down the trail it gets real bumpy. I was doing prob 6mph in low n every bump i hit i can hear the belt. Its not a sliping sound but it would make a short whine. As if it was coming under load for a sec then off. I was steady with the throttle. I didnt knotice any issues and inspected the belt after ward n it looks new. My guess was its the belting making noise coming under load and off as the bike was bouncing around but i just want to make sure.
Hi….
Texas Boy here…
I am new to the Can Am scene, but not ATV’s. I have had a couple Honda’s, a Kawi, and currently own a POPO 2014 400 HO and a 2015 570 Touring. The wife decided she likes riding too, so she gets the 2015 570, the boy has the 400, so I’m breaking down and picking up a 2015 XMR 800 on the 16th.
I think forums are a great tool, but can also bog you down. I hope to learn from most comments, but I know that wont always be the case. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, depending on the topics.
I will be respectful of allo, and hopefully I’ll get the same back. Knowledge is power.
Cant wait until the 16th…I’m stoked…
Currently weighing options on exhaust…slipons….
Catch ya’ll later..
My buddy bought a 2011 Commander. He managed to ride it for about 4 hours before the engine seized up on it. Once he tore it down, we found that the plug on the side of the engine, that covers the crank hole was missing. We were thinking it was left off by the previous owner. They probably swamped the bike and just unloaded it on my friend.
He is pretty much tapped out for cash, he sold about everything he had to get this bike.
The engine is a big bore MRRPM engine. Not sure about the details.
The connecting rods are definitely seized on the crank. He pulled the heads off, and the rods will not move at all. We haven’t torn it down any further yet.
Does anyone have advice for rebuilding this? We are both mechanically savvy, but not sure about the intricacy’s of the brp v twin.
He had priced a couple shops rebuilding it and they said anywhere from 2500 up to 4k for a rebuild….
Hey everyone I just wanted to post about my Easter ride. I came across some decent mud and some great trails this past weekend. rode for a couple hours and got stuck only once. lol
The best part is that this is all across the street from my house. Here are a couple of pics. The grizzly did great in my opinion. She never gave up on me and she was ridden really hard.
I have a 350 4×4 with 24x9x11 rims all the way around. I’m looking to get bigger tires but I also need new rims for the rear. If I get 12 inch rims will the brake drum still engage.
