New member from Alberta

im in my 60s. retired auto mechanic .who like to buy, repair and sell anything Honda, was a dealer from 76 to 80. sold trikes, not quads. just got this old 86 TRX 350 given to me by Bro In law, hes a farmer who doesnt fix buger all. when it stops. he buys a new one, this stops in about 2004. so took it apart today.needs a starter for one. I am told the fuel pump is activated by pushing the starter button, it starts if you prime the carb and kick start it.,wont stay running, drained all old gas, added new.. has good compression, plug is clean and brown, so wasnt a oil burner. it still has factory tires on it? anyway. goijng to sell it. no patience anymore, has a new 4 ft blade and new 3500 lb warn winch still in box

400x vs 450r – 450r Engine questions.

Pros and Cons to these two quads.

What I already know…
1. 400x has a proven motor. One of the lowest maintenance 400’s available.

2. 450r requires more attention in terms of internal engine components.

I have always done oil changes with no more than 20 hours on my oil on all my ATV’s. The way I see it is keep clean oil in the bikes is a cheap insurance policy.

So with good preventative maintenance. What is the life expectancy of the 450r motor when keeping clean oil in the motor and the valves adjusted?

My riding style is trail riding. No racing. Spirited riding from time to time. I buy a quad to keep it for a long time. I still have a 2003 400ex that I bought new in 2003. Still looking good and no issues. Just lots of oil changes and taking care of it.

New 1000 xp4 need tire help on stock rims

Just bought my first Rzr 1000 4. Like the stock wheels. When I wear out the bighorn tires I might want to try something different. had a couple questions.

1. how do i fit 4 30x10x14 tires like mongrels on my stock rims (stock bighorns are 29x11x14 rear and 29x9x14 front). will the 30x10x14 fit on both the front and back rims? Will they shape different with the different rim sizes like get wide and short on rear?

2: will i need to do any clutching or anything if I change to a 30x10x14 tire?

Thanks,
Jason
