new to the forum not to can am

Hey there! you have a great forum…

I just bought a 15 maverick XDS turbo. I own a commander and am brand loyal, running sea doo and ski doo rec vehicles as well.

I’ll be checking things out and asking questions and providing info when i can.

looking forward to get to know some of you.

take care

Marc

thinking of going wider

Looking for some info and and thoughts on going a few inches wider.

Where I ride and plan on riding 55" would be tight but still OK. So I was wondering is there a big difference in handling and stability going a few inches wide of stock?

And if so what are some of the best ways of going by it. I’m already thinking of new shoes and rims. Was thinking 9" on all 4 or should o go with the 9" and 11" set up. Or is wheel spacers a better way of going?

What have you guys done?

Electrical, battery, relay issue??

Hello!! I’m new to forums so bare with me. Recently got my 1st quad. 2003 660. It’s been great until recent glitches. Went to start the other day. I pushed the button and get a single click from the relay then my display goes blank. Started looking for shorts and nothing. Decided to clean battery terminal then it works again!! Then today it does it again. I lightly tapped the positive terminal and it starts to work. So far it’s ok but I just don’t trust it. Any help would be appreciated!! Did have battery checked and it’s all good. Thank ya!!

Homebrew turbo setup tuning & modernizing

Had a customer come in, 2007 Renegade, home made turbo setup, had all sorts piggyback injector drivers, extra injectors, stock ecu, wires everywhere, a big mess. Customer had bought the machine, as is, running, had some kinda boogered up 912 kit, dome pistons (!) stock heads, ran it one time, broke a timing chain, on front cylinder. Our job was to figure out what was up, & fix.
We installed a turbo 840 kit, his crank & rods were good, new G2 MRRPM turbo cams, stock atv heads, 9:1 compression, left in tact his homemade turbo setup, Rage three/G1 secondary clutch setup, reflash stock ecu, big injectors, got rid of all piggyback B/S, tuned with PC3, made 114RWHP, @12psi, I’m sure there’s more in it, with a good/different turbo, as this one looks like some kinda diesel turbo or something. Anyway, 20mph wheelies are easy, cheap & powerful easy to tune setup now.

This machine was built years ago, when there were no options as far as engine controls, nowadays, if you want a turbo, simply reflash stock ecu to turbo tune, install a different map sensor, tune with Powercommander. Super easy, cranks right up as stock does, fuel & timing are super easy to tune, only two injectors, use all stock wiring, no splicing.

let there be light

so, a buddy of mine got two of these gremlins for his rzr Alpena

they’re like having two small suns following you around in the woods. exceptionally bright for their size (and price, only $60 at advance auto)

they’re 16W with 1500 lumens each. looking at the service manual for my 2012 rancher 420 AT, the "high beams" (which must mean you have to be high to assume you’re going to see better with them on) and regular lights say they’re each 30w bulbs…so, theoretically I should be able to just intercept the power to the high beams at the harness there to power two of these guys off the same switch as the regular lights.

anyone see a reason why this wouldn’t work? I’d like to get these boogers mounted without having another switch hanging off the bars

Anyone Running 30″ Dirt Commander Yet?

Decided to get a more aggressive/wider spaced lug tire for trails that I’ll use more than the Motohammers. I really liked my 27" Dirt Commanders on my 900, they did great in the loose stuff around here. I’m considering the new 30" but wondering how true to size they are compared to others. Others I’m considering are Roctane, Blackwater aND Kahuna.
