500 messed up, HELP

I just baught a 500, I tested it out ran it down the street checked the oil it all seemed good. But now when I got it home I was checking out other people’s top speed and mine redlines at 35 mph, so I thought I would do a oil change and see if that would help, but during the oil change I found metal shavings and sludge in the filter and oil, so now I don’t no what to do, any help is needed

TRX200D Type 2 front brakes…

Hello all, first time poster, although I’ve lurked for awhile trying to research answers to questions that I’ve had with my bike over the years…on to my post, I have a ’96 TRX200D Type 2, have owned it since I was a teenager. It has given me 20 years of excellent service, and still runs like a top!

I’m planning on selling it here very soon and have been working on it the past few days trying to get the brakes back in good working order. The only problem I’ve had is with the front hydraulic brakes. I bled the lines first, checked the shoes which were good to go, rebuilt the wheel cylinders, and started to fill the system back up with new brake fluid. After vacuum bleeding for a good two hours and not really getting anywhere I buttoned it back up full of fluid to see where my problem might lie.

I clamped a vise grip a couple inches downstream of the master cylinder, and got a rock hard stop. I then clamped the line above where the three lines come together, and again got a rock hard stop, so master cylinder is good to go. However once I clamped on either right or left lines underneath where all three join, the brake lever had free play all the way in. I’m guessing there is an air leak somewhere in the area where they join but I’m not sure. I don’t see any brake fluid leaking anywhere on any of the lines so at this point I’m guessing it’s a pin hole somewhere leaking air into the system…

Am I right in assuming I’ll need new brake lines? Or could it possibly where they all join up? There are no bulges in any of the lines btw…any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys…

Rear bumper

Ok…have I overlooked something? Are there any rear bumpers available for the 170 @ a more reasonable price? I like the one I found but I can’t see me paying $350 for one. That’s just me, it’s a nice product just do t want to spend that much. I can build one but would jump st buy one if it was priced like the front bumper from Polaris. Any ideas?

Can someone help me out PLEASE?!?! Wheel offset question

My buddy works at a discount tire, and can get me pretty good deals, plus there is a promotion going on right now making the rims and tires pretty cheap. The tires I’m looking at are the Kenda Executioners. I have seen one person with 8inch wide execs in the front and they said they would have gone 10 in the front if they could do it over again, so I’m looking at 10inch in the front. What I’m wanting to put on is 25x10x12 in the front, and 26x12x12 in the rear. I am REALLY wanting the Vision Lock Out rims, which are 12 inch(tall) rims, and come in 7 inch and 8 inch wide. The 7 inch has an offset of 4+3, and the 8 inch is 4+4. I was told by someone else that I need an 8 inch wide rim for a 10 and 12 inch tire. First, is that correct? And second, would 4+3 or 4+4 work? I really do NOT want spacers at all. Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Wiring harness problem

I have found three wires rubbed thru down inside the frame area on the rear driver’s side. These wires rubbed on the shift cable. A gray wire leading back to the rear of the engine rubbed thru. Does anyone know what cable that is? It has three wires inside, Blk, clear and open cable. This is the longest cable on the rear driver’s side back by the engine.

It has rubbed thru right where it comes out of the large wiring harness.
