After going back and fourth between this forum and YouTube, I finally decided to pull the trigger on a Big Gun Exo exhaust for my ’15 650. Installed no problem. Rolled bike out of garage as to not make too much noise in case this thing was LOUD. Cranked up, sounded really nice at idle, looks great. So, I left bike running for 10 min while I picked up my tools. Shut bike off, mother nature was calling. Noticed smoke coming from pipe, and a strange burnt smell. Brand new, normal maybe??? Left, came back 10 min later, still smoking! WTF, I know these things run hot & lean, but come on, I only revved the engine twice to half throttle, and possibly burned the packing??? Pipe showed slight discoloration, can was too hot to the touch to take apart & inspect. Will probably do tomorrow. Already had discussed ordering a tuner with Jeff Ross at The Bomracing, but smells like I may be ordering more packing also. I already know almost NO ONE here is a big gun enthusiast, but anyone ever had this problem with any exhaust???

There is a small farm where my family rides our ATVs and a creek separates half of it. The creek is probably 12 feet deep with inches to a foot of water in it . The problem is its 22 to 20 feet wide and like any Creek meanders along. Getting materials down to that bottom is impossible unless it’s on an ATV or towed behind an ATV on a cart.
My friend said, after looking at the Crossing spot that I should use two trees that could yield two twenty-two crossing beams each, 12 inch diameters and use 2×4 by 8′ pressure treated lumber for the decking. I’ll use crushed rock or limestone and the base for the logs. The trees with the green paint is where I plan on building this. I do not want to remove them so we won’t affect bank stability.
Well, I finally went out and spent the money and dragged a newish ATV home…Picked up a lightly used 2015 Reny 1000 in digital camo. Basically stock right now. Had trouble finally deciding to do this as I am an older sport quad kinda guy. Had motorcycles since I was 15 and a sport quad or two here and there.
I had an 06 KFX 400 I loved, and sold that and moved up to a 08 Honda 700XX with IRS, and really loved that and still have and ride it….And last week I picked up the new Reny…..I still thing the XX is faster, but mine isn’t stock….
And if anyone has not guessed by my name, I am a drag racer. I am into Mopar’s and usually the Hemi powered ones….We typically race almost weekly all summer long, but try to get in some ATV riding as well on the off weekends.
Do the new 2017 CanAm Outlanders have any upgrades from the 2015’s?? Thinking about trading in my 2015 CanAm Outty 800R XT for a 2017 CanAm Outty 1000R XT. Are their any clutch or secondary upgrades or any upgrades in general other than the wheels and tires?
I know this has been discussed before but Id like to see what yall think. About 90 percent of the time I ride, i ride in mud, water, sand, and clay. I replaced all 4 pads at about 400 miles and just realized today that I am well overdue for a pad change at 1000 miles. I replaced the pads with race driven ones the first time. From what I have read on hear, there is really nothing to improve pad life if you ride in almost strictly muddy conditions. I am probably going to buy Race driven pads again, but i noticed they now have rotors designed for mud riding. Has anyone ran these yet? They are $36 a piece
Hello friends. This weekend I took my 2016 Honda Rancher 420 4×4 DCT EPS over to Western Honda of Scottsdale in Arizona to have the 600-mile service package performed on the machine. I enjoy doing these services myself, but the price was right and I am trying to maintain my 5-year warranty the best I can. I am very impressed with the service department at Western. This is also the same place I bought the machine new December 5th of last year. 658 miles later the engine was noisy to me (valvetrain), and I can hear a noticeable difference after having the valves adjusted. The mechanic Tom who worked on my quad spoke with me, and told me that one of the valves was way out of spec. I could tell immediately upon inspection that they carefully went through the whole quad, even leaving it clean when they were finished. Josh, the service adviser was super helpful and nice to work with. I don’t work for these folks, but my experience with other Honda Powersports dealers left me very impressed with the guys/gals at Western. Here is a video of the engine sound before/after. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2MFMnbtKXQ
Hi all, i am in search of getting a new outlander. I am wanting a 2016 outlander 850 dps or the 1000 dps. I just dont feel need to have an xt. I am located in south central Illinois and i am wondering where some of the better priced dealerships are? I am willing to drive a ways for the right atv and the right deal. Everyone around me only has XT’s and theyre all high on price even for being the 2016’s still. So please share as much info on the right dealership that has the right prices on the 16’s to try and make room for the new 2017’s. And like i said im just wanting a DPS unit, i do not need or want an XT and im having a hard time finding a dealer that has what i want.
I posted not to long ago and thought I had figured everything out. But, here I am again. ATV won’t start!
I had the carb rebuilt a few weeks ago and the guy who did it said the battery had to be replaced as it is not the right size. It ran well for a week and then stopped working. Turns out he did not prep the battery correctly. So he replaced it and we’ve been riding it for about a week or two now. No issues starting, no stalling, and the battery starts it right up.
Today, my son was riding it for about 30 minutes and it stalled twice during the ride. Not while idling. He was slowing down or turning. After the second stall it would not start back up. It tried, but couldn’t get over 400-500 rpm. I engaged the throttle and it started only to die within 10 second. Then nothing would work.
It still tries to start. Battery is trying to turn the engine over. Gets to 400-500 rpm. But it will not turn over.
Any thoughts on what could be wrong. I tightened the throttle on the handlebars. My mechanic did as well before I brought it home last time.
I am regretting buying this Polaris! My Suzuki Eiger is great, knock on wood. It also 3 years older! Go figure.
