Temp Issues .. HELP

After a rough ride and lots of water, I believe its the temp light, came on, (upper right side of digital display). I cut it off to let it cool down. We were pretty much finished up riding for the night so we headed back, about 2miles, but I noticed the fan never cut on when I thought it should have, since light came on. Cleaned her up this morning, found alot of leaves n mud up in the fan, could have been blocked , cleaned it out , let it run for a good 30min (95degrees out today) , still fan would not cut on but temp light didnt either . I need to know what order or process of elimination of trouble shooting to try to diagnose this problem ??? Coolant level was a hair above minimum ……I plan on taking the fan plug out , cleaning it, di-grease and plug back in …. Im a little stumped on this one guys …..

Help with tracking down electrical gremlin/dead short

This is on a 2013 650 xmr. My bike sat for almost a yr broke. Got it fixed, and I replaced the battery cause I couldn’t get it to charge. It would however jump off and run as long as I left the cables hooked up. Brought it to a big ride and rode it half a mile before the check engine light came on, went into limp mode and died. Got it back to camp and the battery is reading 9.5 volts roughly. And it will not even jump off. In fact with jumper cables hooked up it still reads 9.5 volts at the battery post, and if I touch the cables themselves I’m getting 13.5, but not at the post with them hooked up, I’ve never seen anything like that before, kinda mind boggling to me. I just went and took the battery off, it tested about 7.5 after sitting another week hooked up. Got it on a trickle charge and it’s currently at 11.5 after only 25min. Everyone I talk to is leaning towards a dead short somewhere on the bike. I’m thinking a charging issue somewhere, as the last time I rode it almost a yr ago I had to tow it in doing the same thing, and my son broke the shift linkage at the same time and it sat forever. My question is what components should I be looking at, where are they located and if there’s some good literature somewhere I can read on how to test them, or just what your general opinion may be. I have no clue how to track a dead short, but I’d rather start with the components myself. This bike has been through A LOT. The motor has been out twice, 2 rebuilds, so it’s possible something was cut somewhere along the way. Only thing I’ve changed electrical on it is a pc5 when I made it an 800cc. Sorry for the long post lol. Just trying to give as much info as possible.

Wet clutch help!!

I just put my 03 660 back together after doing a full clutch replacement. The only thing I didn’t replace with new was the one way beating because it looked to be in good shape. Machine has 1150 miles on it. When completely assembled the clutch stays running like I’m throttled up. It won’t idle. I remove the carrier cage and it runs normal. It only begins to run on its own as I tighten the cage back up. Any idea what’s going on????
