I have 2 machines that need a starter. My MOSE unit and by buddy’s 01 Scrambler. Polaris seems to be VERY proud of their part…$389. It appears that the same starter is used for all the the 325, 330, 400 and 500 machines. I have the starter that came with the 325 MOSE engine so I don’t have to buy a new one. My buddy’s Scrambler will need a replacement.
I found a few aftermarket units. Rick’s Motorsports, Moose and Quad Boss along with some of questionable origin.
My question is this: Has anyone used any of these starters? Or can you rebuild the original. It looks like parts are available for them.
So… this is my first rebuild and first time posting on a forum so please bear with me.
I took my Predator into the local shop and they tore it down and diagnosed the issue. I didn’t allow them to do the work and they gave my Predator back with top in in a box. I have been dealing with missing parts, and the lack of knowledge from not taking it apart.
I have the top end mostly put together but when I went to install the timing chain on the cams, it only fits over 1 of them. The tensioner is off the head and I can’t seem to get it on. The chain was most likely dropped t some point; could this be the issue? Also, I cannot turn the crank bolt to TDC anymore. it only moves a somewhat back and forth.
Anyone have any ideas on where to go from here? I have a Clymer manual on order but don’t think it will go into detail on this specific issue.
Hi I have an 02 Polaris Trailblazer. it will crank right up no problem and I can ride all day, but the first time I hit water (small puddle) the bikes falls all over itself, it takes a min to crank and when it does it wont idle without help, It wont rev up. I can hold the throttle down and it wont move. I can work with it and get it to wind out in neutral eventually, but I put it back in gear it wont build up the rpms. I feel like its trying to start out in 5th gear. I can let the bike sit for 30 mins or so and it will crank right back up and take off no problem. I have cleaned out the carb, changed out the petcock and plug. air box is dry, plug wire looks good no slits or holes. the clutch seems to be functioning properly. I had a shop look at it but were not able to recreate the problem with a hose, neither can I. my guess is its something electrical or carb related but I cant figure it out, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had issues shifting into Park yesterday. So, I turned to the forum for assistance as usual. Read many threads on moly slip, one way bearings to replace the crappy OEM ones and how to straighten & adjust the linkage.
:tools1: time!
That is until I exposed the linkage to find I had flipped the shifter to locked position with it in Neutral so it would not fully engage in Park.

Hi, new to the forums and wanted some veteran opinion regarding a 2012 Rancher that came into my hands. The engine has no smoke or leaks but the frame is heavily rusted. I’m debating selling it or a frame swap.
