2015 Scrambler 850 First ride

So I just purchased my new 15′ 850 Scrambler after the break in period I lined it up in our local XC series where it will be my new buggy for GNCC and Locals. Coming off of a 12′ Grizzly 700 with powersteering, clutch work, stage 4 elkas and more, getting on the new Scrambler that has 150 more CC’s than my grizzly was quite intimidating at first along with no power steering i though to myself this is going to be a long and rough 1.5 hours. Surprisingly it was a very fun and easy ride. Steering was on point not once did i feel the jerk of the handle bars, even hit a few field jumps without no issues. Im very impressed with this machine in the way it handles, it was very flawless felt so smooth better than my grizzly. I cant wait to run SC with it on its first national race! I was able to keep up with most of my competitors with the grizzly but not I hope to win some races in the 4x4C class.

Digging up dirt with (Twist Throttle)

Rode this past weekend and this is my third year with this quad, I still have a hard time with the thumb throttle. I thought I would come around with the thumb throttle coordination, but I feel like I’m fighting it. I find myself trying to twist the hand grip off the bars like a twist throttle. Is it me or do other riders have the same issue? And I’m seriously thinking of converting to a twist throttle, wait , wait, OK all the naysayers can chime in now, this issue always digs up old dirt I know.

1986 FourTrax TRX200SX – Electric start issue

Good Afternoon All! My name is Joe and this is my first post on this forum. I recently purchased a 1986 FourTrax TRX200SX for my kids to scoot around the ranch on… A month ago the electric start performed flawlessly, but now it seems like it can barely crank, and definately won’t start the engine. The engine starts fine when I manually pullstart… but it cranks slow, at about 60 or 70 rpm, and wont fire.

The battery was fully charged when I tried to crank it over… and I hooked it up to my charger while I was trying to crank it over, and still NO JOY. I don’t want to rip it apart if it’s something simple, so any help here would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Joe

Gear Oil

So I have just about reached my 10 hr service mark and was going to get the oils needed that I will be changing. However, I noticed in the 2015 Can-Am Outlander manual it states that I should use 75w140 gear oil, but in their sales catalog it says that is for the side-by-side and to use 75w90 in ATV’s. I have a 2015 Can-Am Outlander 800 XT. I am just wondering which oil to purchase and figured I would check here, even though I’m sure my dealer will be able to help me out once I get there later this afternoon.

Thank you for your help!

4110225 Fan Switch Alternative

Hello All,

Just wanted to post what I have found for an alternative to the Polaris 4110225 fan switch which is NLA.

I used a Derale Part Number 16731 Fan Switch to replace a bad OE switch on a 1997 Magnum 425. You will need a 1/2" NPT (male) to 1/8" NPT (female) brass bushing/adapter to assemble it to the radiator (be sure not to over-tighten in the radiator). The on temp is 190 F and off temp is 175 F.

Here is a link to the details on the Derale site: Single Stage Controllers : 190°F Fan Switch Thermostat

I ordered one from etrailer.com for $29 shipped and then picked up the brass adapter for $2.00 from our local Fleet Farm (but any good hardware store should have it too).

I had to take the terminals out of the factory connector, protected them with some heat shrink, and then installed them individually to the tabs on the temp switch (the order doesn’t matter). Everything seems to be working great.

Hope this helps some folks. Good luck!!
