98 400 Sport – counter balance timing

I have a 1998 400 Sport which water got past the seals and all of the bearings were shot. I had the Counter balance shaft turned down. It’s been apart for about a year and I’ve finally got around to putting it back together.

The machine shop removed the counter balance gear and they did not mark the counter balance shaft or the gear. I think I have have read somewhere that the piston should be at TDC and the counterbalance (lobe) should also be be at TDC at the same time.

The first two pic’s are when the TDC marks mesh up together.
The piston is TDC while the lobe is not quite at TDC.

The second set of photos show both the TDC of the piston and the TDC lobe being very close to straight up. When I do this, the gears do not mesh together at the same location.

2012 850cc 2-up…..what should I pay?

buying a 2012 850 Sports Tour 850 HO. 3500 MILES but they don’t look like too hard of miles. Supposedly a guy in his mid-fifties rode it he and his wife with their semi retired friends, etc. Kind of looks like a bunch of Forest Service gravel road miles, actually. Seats don’t have any rips in them and the bottom of the rig is pretty clean and isnt all bashed up.
The winch needs replaced.

Has some aftermarket goodies too: front and rear brush guards, a-arm aluminum guards/plates (all 4), windshield, luggage racks, extra rack on the cargo box in front,. Maxxis Bighorn tires with better than 50 to 60% left.

Whats a fair price to pay ( or maybe some kind of range of a price…. depending on the condition)?

Question on a 2008 420 Rancher 4×4

I was hoping someone could help me out, I’ve been searching the internet in attempt to identify a name of a certain part on my four-wheeler due to needing to buy one. I will attempt my best shot at describing it.

It’s best described as a bracket that is located on the left side (as if setting on the bike) under the front fender. Its the bracket that the 4×4 shift lever cable runs to for engaging it into four wheel drive.

I hope someone can help me identify this part so I can purchase one. I bought the four wheeler and the subject I bought it from stated someone had stole the bracket when the four wheeler was left at the deer camp.. (yes sounds odd to me for someone to steal a bracket) Thanks in advance if you know what its called or if you know where I can get one.

1994 fourtrax looses spark

When I hit the starter is fires once or twice then nothing … Thought it might have been fuel but nope it is spark .. When I pull the plug it sparks once or twice then nothing … Not sure why or where to look … One odd symptom if I flicker the run switch it will cough along for a bit … I’m almost sure the switch is fine (continuity is good ) what could this be ?
