New Member from Georgia

New member here from NE Georgia. Proud owner of a 2004 Foreman S, and a new 2016 Foreman 500 foot shift. Just sold off a 2008 Grizzley about a month ago to help foot the bill for my new Foreman. My daughter, and I took the 2.75hr trip to Tenn to pick it up last Saturday. I will be ordering my Zilla’s, and SS212’s next Friday!

Stopped by Cabela’s on the way home.

Grizzly 660 Engine ‘Rattle’

Hey folks, I picked up a used 2007 660 and put a few hundred miles on it this summer.
I had the skid plates and plastics off for cleaning recently and noticed a slight metallic chirp after the engine had warmed up while riding. A friend noticed some wear in the front drive shaft so I replaced it. With the new shaft the sound seemed to get louder and become a metallic whistle or rubbing noise. I pulled apart the CVT, it was very clean for an older machine, the belt is pretty new, I replaced the one way bearing in an attempt to stop the noise.
It has now progressed to a rattle, almost like a chain but not a knock yet.
When starting the engine the noise comes through in neutral very slightly and gets louder with speed. When I put it into 4×4 the noise changes and is almost inaudible. The machine starts a little rough and takes some time to warm up before I can hit the throttle without it choking out, so a carb clean is next on the list.
Could the noise be a valve thing? Timing chain? Front diff?
New to the forum, any ideas would be great, thanks.

Brand New

Just bought a 2001 Sportsman 500 and know basically nothing about these things but hoping to sort my way through the forums and likely learn a lot. We live on 40 acres in NE Iowa and I suspect it’ll be pretty handy to have.

My first impression of the thing is it’s BIG, being used to a little Honda 3-wheeler! Second impression was the gas tank is a pain to fill with a funnel and can.

Did get a manual for a 2002 as the guy said they didn’t change all that much but don’t have any idea how much fuel the tank holds. Perhaps when I do a bunch of reading on here I’ll either find out or learn who to ask in which forum.

98 400 Sport – counter balance timing

I have a 1998 400 Sport which water got past the seals and all of the bearings were shot. I had the Counter balance shaft turned down. It’s been apart for about a year and I’ve finally got around to putting it back together.

The machine shop removed the counter balance gear and they did not mark the counter balance shaft or the gear. I think I have have read somewhere that the piston should be at TDC and the counterbalance (lobe) should also be be at TDC at the same time.

The first two pic’s are when the TDC marks mesh up together.
The piston is TDC while the lobe is not quite at TDC.

The second set of photos show both the TDC of the piston and the TDC lobe being very close to straight up. When I do this, the gears do not mesh together at the same location.

Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.
