Underfilled Trans from the factory?

Hey guys, new member here… I bought two 2015 Sportsman 570’s last July (2015). Changed the engine oils at 20 hours, came out very clean, impressive.

Now that I have 30 hours on both machines, I changed the front diff and transmission fluids today. Again, both were very clean… I probably could’ve went longer. Didnt notice any glitter, no water, axle oil was clean (looked new), the transmission fluid was purple but I drained it into a clear tupperware (shhh dont tell the wife :laugh2:) and didnt notice anything unusual there either. BUT while 1 machine had a full quart in the transmission, the other machine had less than HALF a quart!!! And the drain plug was loose. Loose as in, it didnt take any force to "break" loose the drain plug. The other machine took some muscle.

I have closely monitored every detail of these bikes since I bought them, sans actually checking the level of the transmissions because the dealer gave me a checklist of things they supposedly "checked" and fluid levels was one of them. With 593 miles on the machine, and 30 hours, did I do any damage? No glitter came out and the fluid was still purple. Im a little worried tho.

By the way, both machines seem to shift smoother and quieter now with new fluid!

Lurker converted to member

Hey guys, long time lurker here… Bought two 2015 Sportsman 570’s in July of 2015 that I use up at my northern Michigan property. Changed the engine oil at 20 hours, this past weekend I changed the front diff and transmission fluid. Found all I ever need to know about how-to on this site

So far, so good. Any other Michigan members here?

A few pics from todays ride

I got up this morning with no plans for the day. It was one of those rare mornings here in Missouri for August,64 degrees out and low humidity! The forecast was 79 for the high. When the wife got up she said this would be a good day to ride. I agreed and loaded up! We ended up getting in a good ride and enjoyed the great weather.

01 trail blazer 250 tune up

i have a 96 and an 01 250. the 01 and 96 starts up fine when cold or warm. the 01 has very slight stumble if you call it that on the low end. the 96 runs much more smoothly on the low end. Im going to get a carb kit for the 01 but i also want to check the compression on it. Whats the correct procedure for doing that? i was using a cheap harbor freight tester and i know its around 30-40 psi off, it read 70-75 psi, Same as i rigged on my shop air line that i know puts out more than that. so i kinda figure it good compression because it does have ok power just a hair rough on the low end rpm range. its kinda hard to screw in the adapter with the plastic on it but i did manage to get a consistant reading. any ways of doing it easier? lol
