Front Diff – very dirty fluid

So I changed my fluids yesterday, new oil, oil filter, and decided to change out the front diff fluid while I was in the garage. I have a couple of trips coming up and figured I would do this while I had a day off before hunting season.

That front diff fluid came out so grey – it makes me nervous to see. I changed the fluid at 27 hours and 300 something miles, and now I have 60 hours and 710 miles. The oil was dark and a little stinky, but not bad… But the front diff was just as bad as it was the first change. And when I did that first service, I actually changed the fluid, took it out for a spin to engage the AWD, then changed it again. Both changes saw dirty grey fluid. I don’t know why I thought this one would be better, but I guess I was hoping to see some improvement over the February break in service.

Talking to a friend of mine and mentioned this, he tells me he has never changed his! So, I shouldn’t worry about this so much? Or is this one of the ones that I will be changing that 9oz of fluid twice a year for the rest of it’s life?

5 Things to Watch for When Buying a Used ATV

Quote:

Buying used is one of the best ways to get a good deal on a vehicle, especially an ATV. However, you can’t be too careful. Here are some tips from our staff of experienced ATV buyers that can help you sort the peaches from the lemons.

You’ll want to give the ATV’s motor and electronics a thorough looking-over. Start with the engine oil — visually inspect it for moisture, particles, and other things that shouldn’t be there, and make sure that the color isn’t too dark. You’ll also want to get your nose in on the act by smelling the dipstick, to confirm that the oil doesn’t give off a burnt odor.

Next, check the coolant — you’re looking for particles of oil in it. If you find them, it’s a red flag.

Finally, confirm that all of the electronics — headlights, tail lights, key switch, and engine shutoff — are in working order.

05 sportsman 500 awd not working

well let me move this thread here since i’m new. maybe someone can help. 05 with low hours, low miles, babied most it’s life, lost AWD, everything else works fine speedo etc. 4×4 switch seems to work, seems to get power to front differential, 12 volts on grey wire to front diff. not sure how to check ground wire. can’t imagine front diff. going bad all ready. fix it or scrap it? Would i tear anything up if i were to run a fused wire from battery straight to front differential to test it?

Fuse blowing

I recently bought a 2010 renegade 800r xxc. Was running great until I had the dreaded limp home mode come up on my dash. Turns out that the fuse blew for the fan. Quick fix. So I added some coolant from what had boiled out. Two days later same thing happens. So closer inspection I see that I have a hole in radiator. Question is would that cause the fan fuse to blow from running constant. I had a Polaris sportsman before this and I had the fan hard wired to run constant and that never blew. Should I be looking for another problem before I put everything back together. I did order a new radiator so that problem will be fixed. Thanks in advance.

4×4 issues in swamp?

4×4 high and low work great on land but noticed a clunking noise when letting off the gas and seems to be in front axle to diff. went to play in the swamp and 4×4 high wouldn’t work, but 4×4 low did? i was in water up past the foot wells. when i got it out of the swamp and water to land 4high worked again? its a 2104 570 AWD on the fly. has about 330 hours. i know these to make clicking or clunking noises from my understanding but why would 4high not work and 4 low does in that situation? belt slipping? any help would be great ! thanks TK

Very good at all. Forgive my English, I am Spanish. I introduce myself to the community, I am a Spanish rider. A few years I started to enjoy these vehicles ago. They are my passion! I own a Grizzly700, which is already very destroy. Me would love to share my videos with you. Now I’ll open a message in the section of videos and photos. I hope, enjoy it as much as me! Do not you have curiosity as we walk in Spain with these creatures ? Hehehe. Best regards.

Max 2 Up Heating Grip Install – Stripped Torx

For my birthday I got the Can AM 2 up heated grips for our Outty Max. Going through the instructions it looked pretty simple and straight forward. Well…then I go and strip the torx bolts that hold the handle in place :th_smiliepissed:. Seeing as a new set of bolts come in the kit it seems that they know they’re not going to come out easy.

Any tips of getting these suckers out now?
