No spark on Pred 50- wiring help?

I lost spark on my kid’s little ’06 Predator 50. Ran a little rough for a few days, replaced spark plug which did nothing to help, of course. Then it just died completely in the middle of a run on the South 40.

No spark at all. Yep, that’ll be the problem. Tried a different plug, a spare coil I had laying around… nothing. CDI box came next… served only to drain my wallet (Ouch! Those things aren’t cheap).

At this point, I’m done throwing parts at it. No way I’m dropping more money on a new stator/trigger assembly (only thing I can think left to replace) unless I do some diagnosis. Traced all the obvious wires in the CDI box igniton system, but there’s a few I’m not sure of, hoping you could help me out:

Orange & Black- Definitely goes to the coil.
White w/red stripe & Black w/red stripe- Definitely goes to the stator/pickup assy. under the flywheel
Black w/white stripe- Ignition switch supplying/denying ground?? (My best guess, but not sure)
Grey- Not a clue.

So, having NOTHING to guide me and wanting to check simple stuff first, I figured I’d check continuity to ground on that black wire with the white stripe. If it’s to the ignition switch like I suspect I should at least see continuity to ground in one key position and none in the other (no idea if ground activates or deactivates, though). No dice- it’s showing no continuity to ground in either switch position. Which means either it’s bad or I’m just wrong about what that wire does. I don’t want to ground it manually and crank it over to check for spark because if I’m wrong about what that wire does…. I’ll probably fry my very expensive new CDI box.

Is it possible this whole thing could be a faulty ignition switch?? (My luck is rarely that good)

If I at least knew which wires went where, I might have a shot at this. Any and all help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

AT vs ES Models

I’m curious on the difference between the AT and the ES other than the AT having the option to do ESP and ES.

There are those that complain(alot) about the reliability of ES vs the footshift models but how similar are the ES vs the AT transmissions?

Are these the "same" transmissions with a few more electronics built in?

When comments are made about the ES problems, are they the same as the AT?
BTW – many of these ES problems are after the owner decides to go submarining/dunking/etc.

Help….posting here because for some reason can’t post anywhere else????

Question I have a 2015 Can Am Outty 800R XT bone stock except for 27" Maxxis Zillas. It really seems to be lacking power and especially torque the past two rides. I mostly trail ride but have really been into the mud and water recently. My ride seems to get stuck so much more easily than my buddy’s bones stock Outty 100R XT and it’s frustrating the crap outta me. Could my belt be spent or almost spent? Is the 1000R XT that much more powerful than my Quad?? TY

97 2-stroke sportsman 400 fuel question

Hey all,

I was hoping to get some help from you experts regarding a fuel question.
Since this a is an older 2-stroke, I understand that ethanol is even worse for it than most other engines.

The only non ethanol fuel in the area is 100 octane low lead at the local airport. The dealer recommended I use this but I was wondering if you all had any thoughts. The only other options are not feasible as they are hours away.

Thanks for looking!
