2016 Sportsman 570 exhaust heat help?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, but not to Polaris Sportsman quads! I own a 2003 Sportsman 400 I purchased new in March 2003, and I am still riding it, and I just purchased a new 2016 Sportsman 570!
I really like the ’03, have not had any real problems with it, rode it hard, worked it hard, even crashed it hard, and it is still going strong! That was the major reason for my new purchase of the 2016 570, the long lasting, tough, durable, reliability of the 400 made me a fan!!
I am enjoying the 570, but the heat from the exhaust is literally baking my leg!
What can I do to cut the heat from the exhaust down drastically? Wrap the exhaust pipe with heat tape and add another layer of silver heat sheild under the plastic body side panel?
I live on a limited income, and can’t afford crazy expensive mods, so am looking for a good, fairly permanent solution, or fix for this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,

Let’s ride!!!

Hello all!

Just wanted to say hello to all the members and that I love this site as it has always been helpful to myself and my friends who also ride Honda. I hope at some point I can be of some help to others as they have been helpful to me:smile:

05′ Rancher 350 ES Valve Issue, wont stay tightened

Hello everyone. I am having issues with my ranchers valves not staying tight or seated? I adjust them to spec and within very little run time they will loosen back up so badly to the point where the motor sounds as if it is going to start dropping parts behind it on the trail…any ideas? I have been told to replace both intake and exhaust valve assemblies as well as that it is the cam causing the issue and to replace that??

Timing and ignition question.

I am putting my top end back together soon. How do I determine if the TDC with "T" in the indication hole is TDC exhaust or TDC compression. Does it even matter. This is with respect to the fire signal in the ignition/CDI. Read the manual couple time and still can get the answer.

1995 TRX300FW Electrical Problem?

Hey guys,

Went to start my TRX last night, put the key in, neutral and reverse lights came on as usual. The neutral light stayed on and then disapeared. Suddenly I didn’t have any lights.

Trying to press the start button and no ticks, no nothing. The battery has 12.7 volts and the winch works just fine (it’s bypassed). The bike is also in neutral.

Now when I turn the key I don’t even get the neutral and reverse lights…

First time I’ve gotten an electrical problem so any help is appreciated!

Edit: Kick starter doesn’t work either, it just spins in there…

94 polaris 300 question

I have a 94 polaris 300 – first 4 whlr ever – have an oil question.
When we bought it – the owner said something about just adding the oil in with the gas each time. Ok – we have been doing that and no problems. We have had this for about 6 months using just to ride back in the fields with the kids and such. We really know nothing about fixing or repairing or anything like that. We all of a sudden now there is a red light on which we are assuming is an oil light. Do we need to check into this since we are adding the oil as we add gas?

Oneway bearing

I really hate the engine brake on my 2015 Outlander 1000 Max so I decided to take off the oneway bearing and remove the springs just to see what it does for myself as there are conflicting reports about the performance. Like a good boy I figured I might as well service the oneway since I had it off. From posts, videos and my shop manual I expected to pop the bearings out and find the inside open and the bearings visible. Imagine my surprise to find the bearings sealed on both sides, the side of the bearing which is supposed to be open has the same plastic cover type deal the outside of the bearing has. Whats up with that?
