Towing Question

Does any one use a long hitch ball mount or hitch extension when towing? To haul 3 ATVs I need to load 1 in the back of my Ridgeline but I’ll have to leave the tailgate down. So I need to extend due to the trailer jack. My first thought was a hitch extension and then I read it cuts your towing capacity in half. I read on etrailer that a long hitch ball mount is a better option as it retains whatever it’s rated at. Although I don’t really understand that because it seems the longer a bar is from the hitch the more pressure will be applied to it. But I’m wondering if any one has done this and if you’ve had any issues.

Alternatively, 3 ATVs will fit side loaded on my 7 x 12 trailer but getting the 2 on the end would be a pain. The front has a side gate so I’m good there. I’m not about to try to move the Outlander or Sportsman into a sideways position. The 3rd ATV is a Recon so that wouldn’t be a problem. I thought maybe I could set ramps up on the side and drive over the fenders and into the trailer. That wouldn’t be a problem but getting it back out would be difficult due to the sides. Any ideas? Could I drive up the side gate and use some kind of jack to pull the ATV to the back?

need ideas about weird stalling issue

So my bike (2008 Polaris Sportsman HO EFI) was running fine, it had been sitting up for a month or so so I started it up and just let it idle for a good while. When I came back the engine had stopped. And now!…

It is hard to start but it will if I give it a little throttle but it immediately starts bogging/stalling and I can’t get it to keep running unless I continuously pump the throttle.

If I just lay down on the throttle it stalls and quits.
It I don’t give it any throttle it might idle a while, sputter, misfire, and quit.
If I pump the throttle on and off it goes into a cycle of revving up / bogging down. I can keep this thing going for a while like this. I can even drive it around at really low speeds like this, but I can’t really get it up to any sort of speed because it bogs down more than it revvs up.

What do you guys think? What can I check? I’ve looked around for these sort of symptoms but I haven’t seen anything that is prevalent.

Thanks,

Chris

CV Axle and rear end wobble

I have an 05 sportsman 800 with rear end wobble. At low speed it is almost a side to side motion. I jacked it up and ran it and noticed the right cv axle moving up and down near the diff right at the boot. Could this be a worn out axle or just moving where the axle was at an extreme angle being lifted up? Along with that, could a bad cv axle cause that type of wobble? I just replaced all bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints, and bushings last week. Also I noticed that while in neutral with the front wheels on the ground, I could roll the back tires and the front drive shaft would turn going to the front diff. Is this normal? The fourwheeler was not in AWD and was in neutral but the front tires weren’t trying to turn. I’m new to the Polaris so unsure of how that works. Thanks in advance!
