I bought a used 2004.5 Sportsman 400 {4×4} from a fellow that’s local to where I live. He had taken good care of it and all appears to be working well with the exception of accelerating from a dead stop. When I put it in high or low forward gear I have to accelerate to a higher RPM before it’ll start moving forward. Once moving all is well. But each time I stop I’ll have the same problem. It feels like the brakes are on then releases at a certain RPM. But, I know this isn’t the case because it will freely roll forward if pushed. If I place it in reverse I only need to touch the gas and it’ll start moving as expected.
Is this comment to the Sportsmans 2004.5 series or do you guys think something could be wrong, and if so, what do you feel my problem could be?
The other day while riding started to hear a strange noise almost like a bad wheel bearing. Jacked it up and all wheels and bushings felt tight. Noticed rear of drive shaft had decent play. Should they be tight on splines. Replaced u joint but not yoke. Drive it down my street and noise was still there but not as bad. Checked it and yoke still had play. So I orded new rear yoke. Are they suppose to be tight just making sure there isn’t another issue. You would think it would be tight I have 1400 miles on it.

Simple stuff but need a recommendation. On my 15 I have an overhead stereo that drops dwn a little, but wud like a mirror attached to front roof bar. Any help on a good one??

Hello! I have an 86 250r with an ESR 310 kit. When I’m on the throttle in the lower gears like 1st-3rd the bike seems to pull fine but in the higher gears when on the throttle it seems the motor free winds and doesn’t hardly pull. I have the clutch adjusted all the way so that there are no threads left to adjust. Don’t know what to replace or look for. Thanks for the help!
