It is the general consensus here that all 2014 grizzly’s, are lean at cruise. I do not doubt the tests by EHS racing, or that the problem does exist. However, I have two problems with this.
First, we have three 2014s in our group. Two 700s and one 550. Only the one 700 has a lean reaction to the throttle and the spark plug definitely shows it to be lean . The other two, run great and display good plug readings.
I know that this is not a great test. (Wish I had a dyno) But there is a world of difference between the bikes in performance.
Second, It’s a little hard to believe that Yamaha would Produce something that is close to engine failure under the right conditions and especially with airflow modifications.
As far as having to pass emission standards, The lean mixtures will reduce CO but will raise NOX considerably and could raise HC to unacceptable levels with a small lean misfire.
My question is. How many of you out there “don’t have a lean condition” in your 2014s?
