Which clutch do I need? 2002 Sportsman 500

Just picked up a 2002 Sportsman 500 for cheap due to the fact that the previous owner says it needs a new clutch. Found some new clutches online before I bought it and decided it was worth buying and fixing. Got it home and the clutch is indeed cracked, likely due to corrosion. Only problem I’ve got now is buying the correct clutch.

Went to the Polaris site and found part number 1321976 (replaced part 1321632) and part number 1321706, the latter of which is listed as a "wide" clutch.

How do I tell which clutch I need?

Owners of Polaris Aluminum or KNINE Doors….

Pertaining to my XP1k, I have it narrowed down to the Polaris Aluminum Door, or the KNINE Door.

Owners of either of these doors, or those of you with experience w/these doors, please add your input, and help me decide which would be the best choice. Please briefly explain your thinking.

BTW, I’ve read piles of threads about doors. I realize the DE Door is very classy and well built, but I would prefer staying with the OEM style latch.

New Member Introduction

:th_smiliewavey: This is my first time on the Can-AM forum. I live in the Ozark Mountains of north central Arkansas, USA and have ridden a 2002 Bombardier Traxter XT on my ranch for years. Although my machine is still running well, it is beginning to show its age. I think I probably have as much as 10 or maybe 12 years left during which I can use an ATV and do not feel that my Traxter is likely to last that much longer without major expenses. As much as I hate to give up my ride’s step-through configuration, it’s time to find a replacement machine. The Outlander XT is on my short list, so some constructive guidance would surely be welcome and appreciated.

My new machine will be for ranch transportation and work purposes over rough, uneven & frequently steep terrain carrying tools (chain saws, gas and oil cans, towing chains, shovels & other hand tools, etc.). Durability and reliability will be major factors in my choice of machines as will be servicability (I’m 100 miles from the nearest dealership and do most of my own car, truck, tractor, ATV, and other power equipment routine maintenance.):tools1:

Good place to ride near Denver this weekend?

Hey all, just getting into the sport. I baught an 800s and a 900xp recently. I’m wanting to go on a day trip ride this weekend somewhere not too far from Denver. Wondering where you guys recommend. Looks like Rampart range is only for 50" rigs. We went to Rainbow falls a few weeks ago, was fun but thought we would try somewhere else out.

I know some places might be closed or inaccessible right now.

Thanks,
Seth
