So I picked up a 93 sportsman model W938039, (I was told it was a 400, but motor says 350)(2 stroke) I picked it up fairly cheap and will be fixing it up for my wife to ride with me. They said it sat for 3 years. I cleaned out the gas tank, fuel lines, filter and Carburetor (3 times), I also checked the exhaust for blockage. Here is my issue…..After cleaning everything out I can get the engine to purr and rev up nicely. When i take it for the test drive it will accelerate and then when I go to coast it starts popping (assuming from back pressure) very loudly but then runs rough and dies. After this happens I cannot get it to start back up. The exhaust would pop so much that it would blow the exhaust off the engine hole. Any help on this would be very appreciated. It has done this 2 times after i get everything cleaned out.

Not sure if I should go with the alba stage 1 kit which comes with a clutch kit adjustable weights, slip on muffler, and a fuel controller or save $600 and just do the dalton clutch kit from hunter works. Any opinions would be great thanks!! I mostly ride the dunes with mountain riding from time to time.

So i finally got the foreman back together after sending it off to get it bored. I was riding it around to break in the rings and it just stopped and revved up. My final drive shaft that turns the front and back differentials was turning fine. Then i started to hear a grinding noise, but only when it was in gear. It wont move forward, but it will drive in reverse…what could this be????
A group of us are in Oregon and WA State, we ride the dunes (up here) a lot and every chance we get. Have been doing so for many years. The only time we can all take enough time off to make a Glamis trip is in August. Is it really actually too hot to ride during the day at that time of year?

Anyone running an exhaust on their 800 with the alba stage 1 controller? I bought the controller used to fix an annoying low rpm miss. Solved that, but I’m not sure what to do with the other settings. I don’t really expect to gain power, but I don’t want to add unnecessary fuel and loose power.

Can anyone confirm the status of Pickett? I’ve done some searching but I keep coming up blank is it still open or is trespassing now to ride there? I see a lot of old posts but nothing in the last few years. I’ve never been so if it is open what type of terrain is at Pickett?
