1995 mid eccentric bearing ?
I have a 1995 sportsman 400 4×4.
Machine has about 1000 miles on it ,but I have no idea how much service the eccentrics received as far as greasing etc prior to me buying it.
Anyway,on a ride the other day we got into some sand and shortly there after i heard alot of noise from the frnt end (shrieking and grinding)
You could feel it in your feet ,which generally would mean it was caused by something fairly directly connected to the frame.
The noise would come up mostly in 4 with the wheels turned ,so I assumed it was being made worse by the torque of the locked front end.
I wasnt far from the truck so I put it back in 2 and drove the mile back .
In the shop today I noticed the front chain had considerable slop ,so I adjusted it ,and tested it in the yard, noise still there, came back to shop and found chain loose again.
But this time I could pull on the chain and see the mid eccentric shaft move about a 1/4 inch in the bearing.
Thoughts on bearing price?
Should i pull the whole eccentric and change both bearings?
So,,long story short, naturally this is a problem I’ll have to fix asap before using it again, but could I be missing the mark and should I be looking for other causes of this noise as well?
Does anyone else have experience with worn out eccentric bearings and is this a common issue and does it sound to you like this is fairly likely the cause?
Obviously Ill change the bearings and if the sound is gone, well no prob and im on my way.
Ujoints and wheel bearings are all fine,I checked them.
Thanks in advance for any help someone might be able to give me 🙂

Anybody have tips for good break-in on a scrambler?
So far i was told to:
Not hold one steady throttle position for too long, vary it.
Don’t go WOT yet.
I’ve already ran it for 15 minutes then let it cool down to seat the rings or something along those lines.
I’ll change the oil after the 25 hour break-in.
Dealer said to use always use low gear unless necessary to use high gear.
Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks.
I also bought a Polaris 2500 display model winch for $100. The bracket isn’t for mine but we can fab one for it. Hell of a deal though.
2008 Sportsman 500 Fan won’t come on and overheats
I have read a few other posts about this issue but can’t quite figure it out.
I just picked my ATV up and it has been dealer serviced about a month ago.
After riding my ATV around for about 10 minutes the "HOT check engine" light came on. When it came on I stopped and checked and the fan was not on. The engine was also very hot. So I’m assuming the engine is overheating because the fan is not coming on.
I have seen some posts about unplugging the sensor or the thermostat and seeing if the fan came on. I couldn’t figure out which these two things were but I unplugged a couple things on the left side of the engine one at a time but the fan didn’t come on. Not sure what I was unplugging though.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this and figure out what is really going on?
I heard some people saying you can put 12 volts directly to the fan to see if it works? I’ve read a lot about this but I’m sort of hoping for an explicit explanation of what I can do.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :slomo:
