I recently bought a 2001 300EX sportrax from a friend for $150. It was in quite a few pieces and hasn’t been run for a few years.
He said the only thing wrong was the rear carrier bearings, one was seized. The carrier was already removed so I pressed the old ones out and installed new one, reassembled the rear axle and moved on to putting everything else back on the bike.
Anyways, I don’t have the headlight or handlebar plastic so no key. I was trying to get it running and I just connected the ignition wires together and was not able to get the starter to kick with the start button. I am able to short the solenoid with a screwdriver and it kicks the starter on and I can get it to fire and run but it’s running rough, I took a quick video and will try to upload. It doesn’t idle and giving it too much throttle kills it also. The smoke is the paint, apparently he painted the exhaust, not sure what with but it’s burning off.
Any ideas on getting it running right also getting the starter button to work instead of using a screwdriver?
After 4 tedious years of college, I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Once I secured a real job, it was time to treat myself for all of my hard work. I have had a couple dirt bikes in the past as well as a sled and a jeep; I was ready for something different. Due to Maine’s endless ATV trail systems and the short drive to a local trail head, I decided a wheeler was what I was looking for.
It didn’t take long for me to realize a Grizzly is the cream of the crop as far as wheelers go. Most of my buddies have Sportsman, and after riding a couple it became apparent that the fit, finish, and reliability just wasn’t what I was looking for.
I had been shopping around for the best deal and not too long after my first paycheck I went to finalize a purchase. Even with the 2.5% sales tax increase from Maine to New York, I was still able to come out ahead by ~ $800 from a friend at a dealership near Lake George. This was a good 7hr drive from where I live north of Bangor. However, well worth it due to the amount of family I have in the area. A trip I would have taken anyways.
Shes a 2016 Grizzly 700 EPS. I also opted to have 27" Mudlite XTR’s thrown on before I took delivery. The stock tires wouldnt have lasted long.
The day I brought it home. It didn’t take long for me to put it through its paces at the family farm. (The lack of pictures is due to the amount of fun I was having…)
Any guys here from Alberta area? Who should I contact to get some performance parts ordered? I live in Finland and I am coming to Calgary in october to visit family. Since parts and accessories are expensive and hard to find where I Iive and shipping costs are unreasonable, I could buy all parts while there.
Im lookin for aftermarket exhaust (HMF would be my first choise) and maybe a tuner for my -16 Outlander 570. Might also pick up more stuff if selection is good 🙂
Any ideas? My cousin could make the order for me if needed, or I could have the items delivered to his place. He lives in Calgary.
Looking into getting a brush guard for my 2016 grizzly, not much selection out that I can find…I really like the yammy bumper and the bison on amazon. Mainly looking to see what everyone else has for the same year and how they like it. If you have pics that is a bonus

Hello, I am looking to purchase my first honda bike. I have the choice between a stock 08, stock 06, or 04 with HTC kit (all trx450rs). All cost $2800. Which would you recommend? I’ve heard 06 and up has transmission problems, which I’m a little scared of. I will mostly be trail riding, and some casual racing with friends.
