Honda Rancher 350 isn’t starting!!!!

I bought a 2003 Honda rancher 350 last November and haven’t drove it much. When I bought it if I let it idle a few minutes it would die but I figured it’s because the previous owners didn’t drive it much. I started it about once every month to let it run 10 minutes or so. In March I tried to start it but it wouldn’t start. It turns over but nothing more. I think it’s not getting fuel is the problem but not 100% sure. How can I diagnose the cause of this and fix it? Anyone else have this problem before? I’d really appreciate the help and if I get it fixed I’ll let you know. I’d take it to a mechanic but we don’t have any around that will work on it.

Thanks

Polairs sportsman 550

Hey all hopefully you guys have some suggestions. My 2011 polairs sportsman 550 takes a while to engage as I give it throttle whether in high or low gear even reverse. The rpms will rise and then it will finally jump into gear… I just changed my belts and all my fluids so I do not know what time could be it doesn’t seem smooth like others.

Finally got it running.

Took the carb apart last night for the umpteenth time recleaned every hole, nook and cranny. Decided to check the float level for the heck of it and it was off by quite a bit. It was set at about 0.662", so I set it at 0.465". Drained all the gas out of the tank, put supreme in with no ethanol and a new spark plug. Closed the choke all the way and it started right up.

Run it at varying throttle positions for over an hour. We have state land that borders our place most is currently in grain stubble and if you know what the Palouse region of WA is like you know what I mean by farming steep hills. I ran it in the stubble and the hills for quite a while and it never missed a beat.

Started it again tonight and road for half an hour. Put the front fender back on. And will check the valves tomorrow night they were clicking some and I just want to make sure their not too loose.

Thanks to everyone for the advise and guidance.

2011 sportsman 500 HO questions.

Bought a 2011 sportsman 500 HO for my son.I noticed a few things that dont look right to me.I see a small hose about 1/8 diam coming from bottom of carb and has a black diaphram in line.what is it and where should the other end go?
also noticed a heavy guage cable coming off the left side of engine with an eyelet.it goes to a ground bolt on frame which is also the ground for the battery.the eyelet screw is not tight and will not move.it is a #3 robinson.Thank you in advance.

My temp gauge install

While I would love to have an XMR gauge set there is no way I’m spending $400 on the gauges and pod just to get a temp gauge bar graph. I checked out a couple posts about temp gauge installs but I didn’t like the looks of a 2" round gauge mounted in a pod bolted to the ATV so I started searching around for options and this is what I found.

The Trail Tech TTO gauge and thread adapter cost me $63 shipped to the door.

Here is the gauge, sticky back and adapter screwed onto the temp sensor.

These 2 pics show the plug in the front head. I took them with some of the ATV in them for reference as the couple posts I viewed had pics but didn’t really show just how easy it is to get to this plug. I figured I would have to atleast do the hand cram to get to the plug but was pleasantly surprised once I pulled of the side panel and looked down to see the plug right there in the open.

I got rained out and didn’t get a pic of the sensor installed in the block but it just looks like a red thing with a wire coming out of it in the block.

Here is the mounting location I chose for right now. I just stuck it down with the 3M sticky stuff for now to make sure I like the location, eventually I will probably bolt it down with a couple small bolts.

This little temp gauge is battery powered, can be set for F or C, and can be set to show max temp and current temp. Only issue I see with it so far is the setup button is on the bottom so it would have to be unstuck or unbolted to get to the button, good thing I will probably never have to mess with it until the battery needs replaced.

Brake Pressure

I was bored tonight and decided to check out my brakes, cause, why not.

I lifted my front end off the ground and spun the tire and I could very easily here the pads rubbing on the rotors. All 4 tires…

The cylinders move back and forth very easily and don’t seem to be binding. Maybe I’m just used to my Doo sled where the calipers have a little play in them when they aren’t pressed but this seems too tight.

Is there a way to adjust the pressure? I’m pretty sure the answer is "no" but I want to make sure because they just seem wayyyy to tight. I do brakes on cars all the time and they don’t even seem this tight…
