It’s been awhile[emoji15]

Hey guys I’ve been away for awhile busy with work. Just to let you know I went to the dark side and bought a rzr. I have been riding that and it’s fun but I still kept the 400 and I mix it up from time to time riding. Now we have the best of both worlds

Girlfriends family has quads and races them. Loser me doesnt have one. Find one in garbage and start build.

Hello and thanks for all the info i’ve already found using the search button.

My girls family has a decent amount of property in upstate NY and the invited me up for the 4th of july. They spend the weekend cutting tracks in the woods and racing quads and dirt bike. As the new guy to the family they let me ride their spare rancher. needless to say this year I will have my own.

I work at a recycling yard and look at what some landscapers are THROWING away. I seriously paid them the 20$ they were going to receive and loaded this thing in my truck. It was missing a coil pack. they used it to push mulch and woodchips around, hence the plow. Guy said the transmission locked up and it was going to need a rebuild. I Figured the rear was locked instead but I found out later the rear shoes were fused to the rotor. I ball peen hammer and a flat head fixed that.

I kept the project in the garage for the next 6 months until I recently decided to start working on it. This is currently where im at. The fenders have been heavily cut. Maybe I should have just gotten a 300ex.

Our memorial day weekend

Initially was going to 86 the whole weekend plan to camp due to forecast even though our land is only 5 minutes from home. Buddy stopped by and calmed me down and convinced me to take everything down and just take things as they came. So 3 trips down hauling quads, camper, and boat we began our weekend saturday morning. Saturday afternoon a severe thunderstorm warning blared thru the phone, heavy down pours possible, hail upto 1.5" diameter, and winds upto 70mph. Great. Folded up awning, batten ed down the hatches. 2 buddies down there knocking some cold ones back and fishing for small blue gill to use as cut bait for setting catfish lines that evening ran up and took shelter with us for a good hour and a half as storm blew thru, then blue bird sky’s afterwards.

Wife musta took this after intally setting up

Kids chilling out after we threw the football/softball around a bit

Cole had an absolute blast riding his little wheeler…all the fricken time lol. He had free rein of the 1.5 acres we were camped on, then next lot of our adjoining it under development, and daughter and I took him around the big lake a number of times so he could "ride the trails" lol. I swear if he smiled any bigger this weekend his head would’ve been in 2 halves.

Then we fished the 2 small ponds with the kids, never did get on big lake just because the 2 ponds were non stop action for the kids. Just a constant cast, reel in a fish, release, cast, reel in fish to the point cole and brooke got bored with it because it was so easy. Looked like a coy pond at an amusement park all the blue gills, large mouth bass, carp, bullheads, crappies swimming around. So dad was busy baiting hooks, removing fish, tie ing new hooks because the kids were late to set and fish swallowed them. Finally I took a bit and threw my l8ne in the river for big fish, but just caught branches and moss floating down as river was coming up due to all the rain. (Was on phone with geerig who lost his boat off the truck hitch going down highway)..seriously, luckily only damage was ego and a $1600 tailgate.

Plastic welding cracked fender

Cracked my fender by riding the wall up a nasty hill at Hatfield McCoy this past weekend. I have a plastic welder and four different types of filler rods, but I’m not sure which one to use. The rods I have are ABS, PVC, polypropylene, and some mystery material that came with the set. I’m planning to press metal mesh into the plastic on the underside of the fender to help add strength. Which type of welding rod will best stick to the plastic fender?

Light Bar electrical question

i have a 2015 Scrambler 1kxp and am wanting to add some extra lighting, the pod lights from polaris are good…. but the dual row 24′ light bar on my bench will be better. Im wanting to tie into the pods so it will common with the brites and pods, will that be to much land on the circuit ? id prefer not to have in install another switch.

Outlander L 570 Radiator Mud Trap!

This weekend my GF’s Outty went into limp mode twice due to mud build up.

Luckily the first limp mode happened just as we were at a spray off area where we were staying and the second time a bar owner allowed us to use his hose.

The first instance was after she had been going through some heavy thick mud, but the second time we were merely just running through trails with several water crossings and a little mud.

With the radiator leaning back at the top, it acts as a mud catch and doesn’t allow for the mud to drain off.

I’m looking for options other than a relocate kit that may help. There is no radiator guard, just open fins, would a guard help deter some of the mud, or enough to make a difference? I also thought about placing some type of screen behind the large opening just under the plastic honeycomb grill on the front of the machine to help divert some of the mud from the radiator.

What has everyone else done?

2006 sportsman 800 efi

Hi. I am new to this sit and not sure exactly how it works. So bear with me. I have a 2006 sportsman 800 and the fuel pump sending unit is trashed. The dealer says I have to buy a new tank assy. $600. I was wondering if anybody has ever replaced their 2006 fuel tank for a newer 2009- 2013 tank so u can buy new fuel pumps from dealer. They seem to be close to being the same. Any thoughts?

Forman 400 problem hard to describe

Was working in the yard today and encountered the following symptoms:

  1. Started hearing a squealing noise from the engine area and when I turned off the ignition the engine continued to run. I applied throttle when ignition was off and no throttle, turned ignition to on and throttle functioned normally. Engine finally shutdown after about 5 minutes on its own when ignition switch was off.
  2. Touched the oil dipstick and it was exceptionally hot to the touch, suspect that the engine ran hot based on very hot oil dipstick, it was too hot to remove but after cooling oil level checked OK.
  3. Noticed no power to ignition lights and tail and running lights. Checked battery and it is fully charged.
  4. Not sure trans is in neutral as I am able to push the ATV with the trans level in any position with no resistance.
  5. Starter button not functioning.
  6. Engine cranks over using the rope starter but will not start.
  7. ATV has fresh fuel and oil recently changed.

Suspect a loose wire? Engine overheating? or whatever, being a novice I appreciate all inputs on what I should check for.
Thanks for any assistance. Mike
