loud pop when climbing a small incline

I have a 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 that recently starting popping very loudly from time to time when climbing small inclines. I was hoping that the members here could help me figure out what to look at first based upon a video i wanted to upload. Unfortunately it will not let me upload a video to this site.

The loud popping doesnt happen all of the time but can normally be reproduced when climbing a small incline. It will pop loudly and jerk a little bit when it pops. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting to determine the cause of the problem. Any guidance would be appreciated.

2006 Grizzly 660 air filter

Hey everyone! Just to be up front, I’m not a mechanic… so be gentle!

My wife and I live in Haiti, more specifically the island of La Gonave. There’s only one small paved road, with the rest being like a gravel/dust/dirt trail. With that, we purchased her a used 2006 Grizzly 660 for her main "car".

The air filter is a foam filter around a metal screen, and I’m wanting to know how to properly clean it. There is no mail and no addresses here, so ordering anything and getting it shipped in won’t be possible. I’ve been Googling a lot to try and figure out how to properly clean it.

1) most people say don’t use gas
2) most people agree that you need an air filter oil to apply after you wash
3) some say to soak the filter in warm soap water to get the crud out, then apply the oil

I need to know what is the best method for cleaning and maintaining the filter. Answers like "run down to Wal-Mart" won’t help. I’ve been looking, but there is no air filter oil on the island, I can’t get any shipped in (and through customs), and it’s at least a day long trip to make it into the biggest city that may or may not have it: Port au Prince. There’s a few types of engine oil that local places have, but that’s about it. Will engine oil work if I can’t get filter oil?

Thanks for any help you can offer me!

Bad Battery or something wrong with quad?

I have a 2014 Sportsman 570 EPS with only 380 miles. I bought it used, and the owner had put in a new battery (purchased quad with only 150 miles). I also have a battery tender. I went riding in West Virginia for 3 days, and on the last day, my power steering went out. My console said "LOW" and it appears that the battery was low (even though I was riding..seemed it wasn’t charging). I rode without Power Steering for a while and then we stopped for a quick break. Once we stopped, I couldn’t start my quad. We had to jump it, we got it started, and I continued rididing without Power Steering, then it came back on. It was on for a bit, then it again went out and the console said "LOW". I continued to ride without Power Steering and then it again came back on. I finally got home, and I hooked it up to the tender and had a meter on it. It pretty consistantly reads about 10.5v-11v when just sitting, when I start it and idle it up to about 3000RPM, it reads around 14. So I unplugged the tender, let it sit a few weeks, and went to start it and had nothing. I unplugged the meter, plugged the tender back in and let it go a few days, and was able to start it, but it barely turned over. Drove it around the block and into the garage….hooked up the meter with bike off and read 10.5-11v, started it (had to turn lights off) and once started, read around 14v when at 3000 RPM. I have no idea what might be going on…is it a bad battery or something wrong with the bike?

Newbie in Windsor Ontario

Hi there! 🙂 I’m obviously new and will most likely have a bunch of repair questions about my 2002 Sportsman 700 Twin. If you’re good at fixing stuff add me as a friend if you’re okay with answering questions! Thank you in advance!:thanks:

Weep hole leaking coolant, help!

I recently discovered that my 2002 Sportsman 700 Twin is mixing coolant with oil and oil with coolant. I switched out both the water pump and oil seals along with the impeller but when I put everything back together and reintroduced coolant into the machine everything I put in comes rushing out of the weep hole. Did I mess up the water pump seal when putting the new one in or is this a sign of something else that needs to be fixed? Help! :sad2:
