Greetings from Germany

Hello,

I live in Germany and just bought a 2005 DS650.
It was in pretty good condition and previous owners did some nice adjustments.
I hope I can get some good advice here to keep my DS in good shape. Its almost impossible to find parts here in Germany, so I think I will order most things from the US.

Please excuse if I make any grammar mistakes.

So long :thumbsmilie:

Oem oil filter part number? 2013 850

The dealership I got all my supply’s from locally just went to selling only Harley Davidsons so they no longer sell my oil filter, I did a search on Amazon and eBay and found off brand but couldn’t find any oem ones, does anyone have the part number I can search? Feel stupid not being able to find it. Thanks!

Engine Managment Problem

Have had a reoccurring engine light coming on after full throttle /full speed pulls after more than 15-20 seconds. One symptom is the fan not switching on when the temp sensor and thermostat have both been replaced. The second thing which is now occurring on the heads up display is my RPM is completely out of whack. RPMs are now showing in the minuses, like -21 to the -2500 and higher which is now (seems to be) permanent thing my heads up is now monitoring. I’m now thinking the engine light is turning on because it sees this abnormal RPM condition. The service manual says very little on the RPM monitoring circuit. The fan motor does kick on and cool the engine after several minutes eventually but seems to be hesitating to come on. Any ideas here ?

Disk Breaks

So like everyone else my break pads don’t last worth a crap. I was looking at the pads on my quad and noticed little chips on both sides. I got to thinking and decided that small rocks and sand must be getting stuck in the holes in the disk. Ones the rocks are in the disk they get dragged into the break pad tearing away at it.
Now if we had disks that were just smooth or at least only grooved these rocks couldn’t get in and damage the pad.

Can someone explain the flaws in my idea here. I can’t see what’s wrong with it but I can’t find smooth or grooved disks anywhere. Everything I find is holed or slotted.

Got a sweet deal!!

Hi All

I recently bought a 2003 Sportsman 700 Twin with only 1440 miles on it. I have some concerns about it as it seems to have no rear brakes and the engine seems to overheat and lose power without any warning lights.

Generally it needs a little TLC, but even if I have to do a head gasket I still got it for a deal!

Anyways, that’s my bike….

I’m looking forward to having some good conversations in the forums!!
