450ER Air filter installation

Hey!

My companion just bought a 2008 450ER for ATV MX riding. Previously it was only used on ice road racing and thus didn’t have the original air filter fitted.

Now I’m trying to install the foam filter back on, but I’m having trouble shoving the metal filter body into the air inlet tube. I can’t get it all the way in, it sits at about halfway and only twists to different angles from there.
It feels like the filter body is too big or that the inlet tube is shaped like a cone. Is this how it’s supposed to be?

My guess for now is that it just is like that, and the small metal part in front of the filter and the metal band around the foam filter’s rubber sleeve would keep it in. (Only that I’m missing that small metal part for now.)

How it sits in your TRX, any tips how to fit it properly? Thanks in advance!

Hello

I was wondering has anyone had an issue with a high pitch whining noise at idle on their Ranger 900XPS. Dealer checked it and said it was the fuel pump making the noise and it is working properly. This started at 66 hours on buggy,it is very annoying. Any ideas how to stop it.

Carburetor Cleaning Videos

Are there any VERY thorough videos or instructions on taking the carburetor off and cleaning it out, then putting it properly back together and adjusting it correctly and reinstalling it onto a 2003 TRX400EX? I’ve never done it before, and don’t know if you need new gaskets or parts or anything. Thank you much!

LED Bulbs For Stock TRX400EX Lights

Hello, I’m trying to find out if there are any kind of LED Bulbs that can just be installed in place of the stock bulbs that are in the headlamps on a 2003 TRX400EX? Is anything else needed, like parts or pieces? Or can I just replace the stock bulbs and call it good?

If so, what bulb part number, and from where? Preferably Walmart or Amazon or another online source. Fairly inexpensive if possible. Thank you so much!

1988 TRX350D 4×4 Carb issues

New to the boards and the information is great. I have searched and read many carburetor post but still find myself stumped. I have a 1988 Foreman that I have taken on as a summer project. I bought it off CL with bad plastics and a boat load of potential. To my question:

I have disassembled the Keihin carb and placed a new jet kit in the unit according to the factory service manual (Ebay). I can only get the bike to run with 50% choke and it pops every once in a while. Took the carb off, had the local Honda dealer ultrasonically clean the carb body, reassembled it and now anything under 25% choke kills the bike (still pops randomly). Turning the main idle screw (in or out) does not appear to have any effect on the RPM or how the engine runs. New spark plug, checked the valve clearance, fresh 100% mid-grade (non ethanol). I feel that the carb passages are still dirty but I can’t find an exploded view to know what I’m doing if I get the wire cleaning "probes". I also noted in the manual that a plug is used on the carb post the contains the starter jet. I placed a plug in it.

Am I correct that the carb needs more cleaning? I know someone with an ultrasonic cleaner (that i can borrow) so I won’t need to pay for it if I need some more time in the ultrasonic cleaner…

I am not going to be happy until it has that legendary Honda leap to life start and steady solid idle that you know will go on forever.

Thank you in advance for your help. Gonna read more carb post now…
