Quads OUT! SxS’s IN! (Seems that way)

Polaris dealer in my area (Black Hills, South Dakota) says SxS’s outselling quads close to 10 to 1. Rental vendors in the tourist business don’t even rent quads any more. Why do you think that is? Maybe because all 50" trails are closed or closing around here, so why own a quad. Also there are 50" SxS’s if anyone wants a small one. I think quads are a lot more fun but not as safe. If wife was more interested in riding, it would be a tougher choice for me. I own a 2015 850 SP but thinking of trading for a new 2017 General Deluxe, but so far have not convinced myself. Opinions please?

Bogging and loss of power out of nowhere

Hello guys so I have an 07 Polaris Sportsman 700 twin EFI and Ive been noticing this lately but here’s the problem. So I can ride the atv perfectly fine for a good amount of time and then out of nowhere it just loses power. At first I looked into the gas tank and there was gas and it was pretty low so I decided to go back to the truck and while going back it would gain its power and lose again at the same time. Can anyone please help me with this problem feels like running on 1 cylinder and if I let it sit for a day its perfectly fine.

2009 Honda Rubicon EPS/Auto

I purchased a 2009 Honda Rubicon and the bike had been sitting up for a few years. I noticed water in the oil, and it was hard to pull. I took apart the top end to inspect it. The guy had put a new piston and rings and never done anything else with it. I changed the oil and the filter a few times and it seems to run pretty good. It shifts in EPS fine, and shifts in auto just fine. I can ride around on it for about 15mins then the clutch starts to slip. You can hear the clutch on the front left side of the engine slipping. No noise coming from the transmission, but clearly from the front side. When I get back home I will check the oil pressure, had to order the crossover fitting for my oil pump guage. But I did have the plug off and gave it some throttle and the oil shot out about 20 yards so I am guessing the oil pressure is fine. Can anyone tell me if low oil pressure would make the clutch slip? or do yall think it is just glazed over from the water in the oil?

First service on my 2015 Ace 570SP

So I did the first service on my 2015 Ace 570SP and have a couple of questions.

According to my manual, there is a grease fitting on the prop(drive) shaft, one on each tie rod bushing, and one on each ball joint boot. I have already got confirmation from my dealer that the tie rod bushings and ball joint boots do not have grease fittings. I looked at the prop shaft today and no grease fitting anywhere. The manual shows one fitting but does not say which end of the shaft it is on, out of the tranny or at the front differential. Is there a grease fitting on the prop shaft? It appears that there are no grease fittings for either U-joint.

According to the manual there is a throttle cable adjuster near the engine. Searched and searched and could not find it. Any help on it’s location?

I tried to attach the PDF pages from the manual for both these questions, but no luck with that. I hope my description works.

When I changed the oil I used a long funnel and poured the new oil in the dip stick port. The filler cap is in a location where you cannot remove it or pour oil into it without pulling the plastics and rear storage shelf apart. Sometimes I just hate design engineers. They don’t have to work on these things so they just don’t care.

Thanks

Whats normal for valve noise

I adjusted the valves for the first time on my 420 rancher. Before i adjusted them i checked them. Intake was at .007 inch. And exhaust was at less that .006 could not fit my gauge for the intake aide under it. So i readjusted them. And after i put it all back together. Thing runs perfect. But at a dead idle i can hear a faint tick. Not a knock. Just a tick. Is this normal.

Wheel Spacer Woes

  • Well, I went cheap and bought 1.5" ebay wheel spacers and now I am paying for it with frustration.
  • First off these things are pretty heavy but decided I would put them on anyway.
  • The problem I am having is the holes in the spacers are considerably bigger then the wheel studs allowing at least 1/8" movement up and down, fore and aft, if not more. The nuts are flanged as opposed to cone shaped and there is no chamfer in the spacer to accept cone shaped nuts.
  • In other words there is no way to center these things on the hubs.
  • I have spent most of the morning trying to come up with a sleeve of sorts to go around the studs and in the spacer to get a more centered fit. No luck so far.

Any suggestions?
