New bike

Hey all, well I just before Easter I decided to trade in my 2012 Honda Rincon for a ’15 Outlander 650 XT Pearl White. A friends has the same bike, it is way faster, more stable, better suspension etc. I was hesitant at first since the Honda was/is reliability, but it was slow, and the suspension sucked, and the 3 spd tranny was always looking for a gear.

Either way I’m pumped.

Binding noise when starting?

2003 Foretrax 450 ES. Sounds like pull cord recoil unit might be binding and grinding when I press starter button (sound comes from directly under seat by drive shaft). It sometimes stalls or clears and idles. Anyone have any suggestions before I remove pull cord recoil unit to inspect?

My Vampire EDL review

I have had my vampire edls in a a lot of different stuff.

MUD: They get a lot of traction I pretty much never spin and haven’t had to put it in four wheel yet.

RUTS: They don’t have very much side lug but they go pretty well throw them for not having much.

TRAIL: I do a lot of trail riding and the vamps don’t feel much different then stock I think they are smoother. They only get a little squarely 40+ but its not that bad.

ROCKS: they are not the best but not horrible. Because of how skinny they are.

WEAR: this weekend was my first ride put 77miles on and I mostly did trail and alitte deep mud, ruts, and about a mile of black top. I could still see the bottom of the nipples on the front tires and the nipples on the back where gone. I think they should wear very well as long as I don’t ride a lot of black top but that’s mostly any ATV tire.

OVER ALL: they are a very good all around tire if you want to hit the mud they well get you throw and if you want to hit the trail they ride smooth.

LUGS: they are huge they say they are 2inchs online but I measured them and they where all most 3inchs.

TIRE TRUE SIZE: they are 28inch tires but they measure 27.5 with 5.5 psi in them.

Speedo

Another question not sure if it belongs here but couldn’t find an electrical forum folder. I’ve also tried searching but tapa talk suck to suck in.

So I have a 14 800 ego. I just noticed that my speedo doesn’t light up UNLESS the lights are on high beam. I know when I first got it it lit up no matter what. No it still works reading speed and such but just won’t light up. If I play with the awd switch sometimes it will light up also but not always. Anyone run into this and if so what’s the fix?

As you can see it took a few switches of the awd to make the cluster light up but other than that it works. Not a big deal but after dropping 9 grand on it 8 months ago it’d be nice if it worked

250R motor rebuild help

I’m looking for someone in Northern Illinois or southern Wisconsin to rebuild and tune my brothers 1988 250R.

A EF4 Tornado just went threw Rochelle where we live and completely leveled my brothers house along with 7 other homes in his subdivision.

I would love to surprise my brother sometime this summer with his favorite 250R in excellent running condition! (it was previously rebuilt by a not so good mechanic and it blew. no compression) I will pay for parts and a reasonable labor rate. Just looking for a expert engine mechanic and someone who loves to wrench on these 2 strokes!
It looks worse than what the machine actually is. I am looking for a nice original 1988 seat!
please contact me mrcsnow@yahoo.com

Thanks -Matt

1st Spring Ride – Ontario

So, I had my first service done, and have been itching to ride. Here most trails are closed for the spring thaw, but thankfully one club doesn’t close their trails. Baxter Severn ATV club.

After attending their AGM, we went for a little trail ride. It was great fun, and I was able to bring the wife along now that I have a legal 2-up. We only ran about 10km, over a couple of hours, but that included a few trailside stops and chats.

We had nothing but sunshine, and temps around 10C. On the trails we had snow, mud, granite, and fun. Sadly my video camera was off for the best slush hole. snow, ice, mud & water, all rolled up into one hole. It was like watching machines spin thick turkey gravy. Otherwise the ride had no drama.

I mounted my cam on the front brush guard, and let it roll. Hopefully this works, here is one attached video, showing some of the bush/terrain we were in. In short, it was great to blow the cobwebs out, and get out in the sun.

Video Upload is taking forever!!! So for now, here a couple of pics to feed the beast 🙂
