hitch install on 900 xp

Why is it that the owners and service manuals say not to install a receiver hitch on the 900xp?
Is it due to the geometry or chassis?
I have a KFI receiver I want to install, it replaces the rear plate.

Thanks.

RZR Transport Tie Downs – Secure Your Car The Right Way!

So here’s my story on the subject… Hopefully some of you will find this useful and can learn from my mistakes…

First step, buy a RZR 1000, Check. Second step, buy a Trailer, Check. Third step, go out for a rip! Check, …and Fail.

Attempt One

So I severely under-estimated tying this unit down. For my first trip I attached ratchet straps to the frame (one on each corner) and tightened her down nice and snug. I’ve secured ATV’s and Sled’s this way so whats the big deal right? Well, a couple good bumps in the road, the suspension bottomed out and rebounded completely ripping out my anchor points on the trailer. I got home and was welcomed by this damage…

I know it’s not a lot of damage, and most would’ve just left it, but I’m pretty picky and really baby my stuff. So for me, this needed to be fixed. Between the new grill and the new front fascia, it ended up being a $400 blunder… It also could have been a lot worse; if an evasive maneuver had to be made to avoid something, this RZR could’ve went for a ride through the trailer wall and bounced down the highway…

Attempt Two

So anyway, after some more thought, I figured its probably best to tie down closer to the wheel, as close to the hub as possible. So I did this and although it didn’t look pretty and was a pain in the ass to setup, it did secure the car a lot better. The only issues with this method, (Besides being somewhat time consuming and a real PITA) the straps are rubbing the powder coat off my front A-Arms and they still come loose and need to be re-tightened periodically, especially on longer trips.

Back to the drawing board… Either I’m a moron overthinking this, or there’s a better way. After all, I’ve invested a lot of money here, between the RZR and the Trailer there’s almost $40k here! I may be overthinking this, but I’m not happy with the damage that’s happening every time I take this unit out. Not only that, but my confidence in trailering this unit is wearing thin.

Attempt Three

I need some peace of mind, and I need a proper way to tie this car down. Well, one phone call to Mac’s Custom Tie Downs and my problem is now solved! I ordered a custom tie down package that included new anchor points and custom sized wheel nets (I have 30" tires)

So I got them installed today, the entire job took me about 2 hours, from prep to install. I gotta say, this is clearly the way to go! This setup is unreal! Simple and easy, it now only takes me 15 seconds per wheel to secure this car down. Once secure, its incredibly solid, its as if the car is bolted to the trailer. Mac rates each anchor point at 2000lbs. which gives me a total load rating of 16,000lbs. I paid $370 for this package, this is really minor considering how much money we invest into these machines.

I’m seriously impressed with this Mac system. Clean, heavy duty and secure. I never have to worry about my car now while in transit. It’s money well spent for the peace of mind and security of my car.

Note: Although you could just install this kit with the supplied hardware, I went the extra mile and welded some aluminum plates to the frame and cross-members of the trailer. I then bolted the anchor points right through said plates. Your milage may vary.

Louisiana 1000

Hey guys what’s happening? I have recently got my first polaris and went all out with the 1000 limited sportsman. What a machine. I was going to get the 850 but the wife fell in love with the limited and wanted it. So I didn’t argue. Lol Is there anything I need to watch for or do. Thanks in advance. Would love to send a picture but will have to figure it out.

Belts for aftermarket primary clutches

Hey guys just a quick story. I’ve had my gen 2 qsc primary for a few months now and i put it to the test at muddy bottoms atv park 2 weekends ago. Pulling out of a hole I got in a situation where I couldn’t pull in 4wd( belt was slipping). Once I noticed I jumped off and me and a few buddies pushed me out. I was in peanut butter mud and the belt box did not get water in it. Was fine after but my low end was noticeably tamer so I’m sure the belt and sheaves were glazed over as a result. Well I’m belt shopping now and I hear some distributors say gates carbon c12 and other say the maverick belt. I’m torn between the two and want to know some real reviews on these belts. I’m actually kind of shocked that I couldn’t pull. I’ve went through worse situations with stock clutching just fine so either the oem belt I replaced was out of tolerance or my qsc iS setup wrong. All opinions welcome!! Sorry for the long post btw lol

Desert Molding Concepts XP1000 Fender Skirts

Just installed the Fender skirts and they really help my trailing arms and rear shocks from getting sand blasted .

These are designed to keep the stuff that flies off of the front tires and shoot right back to the rear lower fender, trailing arms, radius rod, axles etc. It really puts a beating on those components, chipping and sand blasting them. Those nicks and dings not only ruin the finish but are doing untold damage long term.

We came up with our Fender Skirts to only protects the rear lower fender, but more importantly the rear components. You will feel the difference right away!

These are not a sheet product or rubber. They are a cast Polyurethane product that we mold in house. This allows us to choose a material that is hard enough to maintain a thin cross section, holds it’s shape and is tough enough to take a beating but flexible enough to get out of the way when it needs to.

Easy install and eliminates that empty bottle, machine gun rata-ta-tat-tat that you hearing running down your favorite trail.

Check out the amount of sand my front tires throw back .

These fender skirts really cuts down what hits my rear shocks and trailing arms .

Shut down in water, why?!?

Took my 2015 800 xmr out on saturday and got in a bit of a tight spot. The front never went deeper then the fenders but the rear dug out the sand n the rear racks were completly under water. I let off the throttle to engage 4×4 and go in reverse and she shut off. I was able to restart but it took a few seconds and giving it throttle. When i got out n back on dry land i shut her down and opened everything up. Air box, the drain tubes for the airbox and the drain for the cvt and everything was dry. Why did it shut down. I kno my suzuki used to do that when the muffler was underwater at idol, too much back preasure stalling the motor, but once i rejetted it it never did it again.. Is that wat happend here? I would think an 800cc v-twin fuel injected motor wouldnt be effected by the muffler being under water…. Anyone else have this issue. Not going to lie when she shut down my butt hole puckered up tighter then a snare drum hahaha
