I just bought a 1999 scrambler 500 4×4. When I got it, the electric start and high beams worked but the low beams and cluster lights didn’t work. Intermittently, I lose all power, no electric start, no lights, etc. It will start by pull start when this happens. Randomly, the high beams and electric start will start working again. I don’t see any obvious shorts. Is this a circuit breaker issue? What should I do?
I have been riding my project for a week or more (with break-in oil additive) and then the ignition gremlin comes back again. When it was running, it ran very well and all the gears functioned properly. I swapped out the old CDI for the brand new unit and still nothing. It is doing exactly what cause me to buy a new CDI months ago. One or two sparks with accompanying sputters then nothing (no spark). Come back in an hour and it will do it again. One thing I did notice this time is that prior to complete loss of spark it bogged down with throttle (after moderate riding for an hour). Once it died then it would not start again. These two items seem to be related. I am now in the process of tracing the wiring diagram. I have ohmed out all of the connections and they pass the grade. I have seen an old post that describe my exact problem and I replied to it with a question as to how it was fixed but the post was so old that I got no reply.
I didn’t even know how to search this problem so I’m just gonna ask.

So last weekend somehow I bent my rear rack. I took it off to replace it and figured when I was at it I’d go ahead and change out my green plastics for the tan ones I have in my shed.
Well after I swaped out the rear plastics and rack I tried to hook up the battery and the starter engages. No key in the ignition and everything is off.
I’ve read over the service manual several times. Turn on switch, disconnect diagnostic lead and within 5 secs ground male end. My eps light is on and stays on all the time so there has to be codes. But it never blinks. I’ve tried grounding to eps unit and to frame. Any ideas?
Hi folks,
Hoping someone can help me. I have an issue with my EPS module on my ATV where I don’t have power steering anymore… The eps warning light is on, and when connected to a diagnostic machine, it is throwing a code for the torque sensor failure… Resetting the module doesn’t correct the issue… As soon as it resets, the code immediately comes back…
Unlike the grizzly, the kodiak’s module cannot be reprogrammed…
It looks like I have to replace the eps module…. And apparently the part is approx $1000 CAD….
1. Has anyone here taken apart the module and do a repair? Or had the same issue
2. $1000 for the module is just nuts! Is there a place where people from here get their parts from, other than the dealer, and has affordable prices?
3 are there places where 2nd hand parts can be purchased, like an ATV scrap yard, etc?
Just rebuilt topend. Fourwheeler started nice but after it warmed up. Wouldn’t restart. Replaced plug and it started first kick. But after it warmed up. Shut it off and then tried to restart. Wouldnt start. So I’m guessing it’s flooding the spark plug or maybe something with valve adjustment?.Appreciate any suggestions.

When I was looking to buy super ATV ez steer power steering kit I had trouble finding people or reviews on the kit for older model Polaris’s. I ended up buying the kit and wanted to let everyone know that if you are on the fence….. Climb over it is well worth it. I used the Sportsman kit for a 2005- present on my 2004. I was worried that it would not fit but figured I would order it and see what I could come up with. Luckily it was a bolt in install on the 2004. It was quite an involved install, but nothing hard, just time consuming. Figure an 8 hour day to do it. It makes a HUGE difference when trail riding, low speed maneuvering, and plowing. This was by far the best upgrade I have done to date. I have ha it for about a year and it has worked flawlessly.
i know i’ve seen others with it but i just figured i’d make a post specifically on here showing that the 2012+ 500 bumper fits a 570 perfect don’t mind the fact that my orange burst looks red in this pic lol[emoji107]
