XMR/trailbike or XT/mudbike

Im looking to buy a bike and turn it into the best trail/mud bike that i can and what ive come up with is either buy an 800xmr and buy some good all around tires so I can swap back and forth between mudbogging and trail riding and upgrade the clutches then upgrade the suspension to elka stage 4’s or should i buy an 800 xt install a rad kit, snorkels, clutches, elka stage 4’s and then buy some good all around tires as well as some mudders?

All advice is most welcome

Hello everyone. I own 3 Polaris’s (2000 Trail boss 325, 2007 Trail boss 330 and a 2004 Sportsman 500), also work on in-law’s 1996 Xplorer 300. Nice to meet everyone. I am no means an expert on repairs and welcome everyone’s advice and knowledge. Joined today and posted a repair issue I need help with.

Hello from 100 mile

Hi im deffinatley not a new rider but I am new to putting mods into atv’s and I absolutley love it. However being new to mods and not having a huge wealth of mechanical knowledge means i’ll have lots quetions bare with me folks lol

500 rebuild by ATV newb

First gear is gone on my Foreman. ’07 model with 1200 hours. Engine ran fine other than first gear.

Everything has to come apart to remedy the situation. I have the shop manual, plenty of tools and experience with engines and sequential gearboxes on racecars. No experience on bike engines.

I have the engine out, the cylinder and piston off and the front case cover off.

So far the piston rings are out of limit.

My questions are:

1) What "gotchas" should I look out for.

2) I haven’t spec’d the piston. If the piston is good should I just replace the rings? Should I hone the cylinder?

Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks.
