WOW – I feel I need to let you guys know the carb I bought off Ebay worked perfect – exactly as they claimed. This is what they say…
"This unit arrives complete and ready to install. As with all of our carburetors it has been airflow tested, mixture adjustments are optimized for installation, allowing you to take the carburetor out of the box, fasten it in place, connect the throttle cable, fuel line and start using your bike."
And, what they say is true. Some of you may know, I recently acquired an 03′ Grizzly 660 with 350hrs and 1200 miles. It had been sitting for the last 5-6yrs outside uncovered.
I was tired of fooling around w/the rebuild kit, so, I took a chance. $111.00 was all it cost me.
I took it out of the box, (there was only one difference – the choke cable jet and spring were a little larger) I hooked the new carb up – and when I pushed the button – she purred like a kitten. I was amazed of how good she sounded and ran. It was immediate.
There were a few extra ‘jets’ in with the carb too. – #1.50 and #1.55 – Why?? what’s in the carburetor as it comes?
Well, awesome – is what it was. Yesterday after the quick install, I ended up going for about an 1.5hr ride with zero issues. She idles perfect and has great response Immediate.
here’s a pic of the different choke inserts, a spot on the trail I stopped at yesterday and the two different carbs ( the original and the new one)
Okay guys have an issue here with my rancher. It is a 2008 Rancher 420 footshift 4×4, supposed to be one of the most reliable out there, and it was until yesterday.
I had a friend come over to look at purchasing the atv, he drove it loved it and is supposed to let me know whether or not he takes it.
After he left I drove it back out to the shop and put it up, roughly 5 hours later I went to back it out and the quad did not want to start. I finally got it running and then it ran terrible. Idle was different than normal, it seemed a little higher but nothing crazy. I drove it around the yard and it runs OKAY until about 1/2 throttle at which point it bogs and skips, if you hammer down and get it above that area it goes back to running OKAY again. Now it did have some type of cheap air fuel controller thing on it, my friend touched it yesterday asking what it was but I am 99.99999% sure that he did not adjust it, when it started running bad I played with it a little bit but it has very minimal affect. I took it off last night and the bike ran the same way so I do not think that is the problem. Oh I also changed the spark plug, the old one looked bad but a new one did not help at all. oh and this test ride he took it on was no mud water nothing, it was down my road and back and around my yard.
ANY and all help would be appreciated, i have another rancher I can check stuff off of but I have no idea where to start
Thanks guys
Flipped my face upside down in a waterhole yesterday, got it shut off as it flipped but its still full of water of course. Just looking for some advice on what I should be doing, changeing oil etc. Any advice would be awesome

I am about to change oil in the two portable gen sets that I have, this will be the third season I’ve used them but not the first oil change. My question is this: Is it worth the extra dollars to use full synthetic in these engines? Any cons with the idea, the documentation states 10W40 SF/SJ?

After all the problems seen on the 900 and 1000 with the voltage regulators, I have moved mine to the front of the machine. It is an easy install. It is placed behind the radiator. So, it is always getting air movement across it and will stays cleaner than by the rear tire. (Remember the 800 problems in 08?)
I was having problems with voltage dropping on my Z1 when running fans, lights, etc. So far, this has REALLY helped. I see my battery voltage holding much higher than it was before I moved the regulator. The big test will be Memorial Day weekend riding.
Here is a picture to show where I mounted it. As you can see, I welded a 1" piece of steel to the bar with the VIN number on it. You will need to extend the wires on the regulator OR make a 6′ pigtail so it is easy to replace if necessary. I made a 6′ pigtail with 10 ga. wire for the 3 yellow wires with a male and female plug to match the regulator AC wires. I have a winch, so I have already ran 8 ga. wire from the battery to terminal block on the firewall. So, I just connected the 2 leads for DC power there. VERY easy to change out if the regulator fails later.
