Still trying to finish up the neighbors 350 Rancher. It has had a battery drain and yesterday I hooked up a test light (between – on battery and – battery wire) and started unplugging things and when I unplugged the meter the test light went out.
Meter is trashed and busted when he bought it. I’ve converted it to a footshift machine, and it shifts fine with the foot shifter, but I’m not sure if a new meter will work with this configuration. That said, if the current meter is going to kill the battery, I don’t know that he will have much choice except to buy another meter.
Will this thing work with the meter unplugged? I guess I can try it. Trying to crank it with the meter unplugged won’t fry the ECU or other electrical components will it?
I’m planning on doing a major detail of my 2005 Grizzly 660 SE at the end of riding season this year. The SE model that year had a black painted finish with gold metal flakes in it. I’m planning on trying a can of Maxima SC1 on it. Have any of you had good luck with this on the painted models or do you have any other product recommendation?
Hey guys, I bought a new fuel petcock lever and a new rubber seal for my 660 because the screw that sits inside holding the petcock to the assembly rusted; which meant I couldn’t remove the petcock lever alone, I had to take of the fuel dial thingy (the metal piece that says ON OFF RES). As I removed the dial, I noticed that the sealing ring that sits in the assembly was metal. is it supposed to be metal? Because the seal ring I received in the mail was rubber. Huh. For now I have put both in because the metal one was slightly smaller than the rubber one so it looked like it was meant to be there. any comments are appreciated
So after fixing up this quad and getting it running like a top it is now back in the garage. My son had it for about a week when one of his buddies ran into the back left side with his quad. It appears that the axle is bent. I guess this is pretty common. I am preparing to tear it apart this week and hope to get the old axle out without too much trouble.
I guess it could just be a bent hub as well but from what I can see I think the axle is bent. Once it is apart I will be ordering a new axle I am sure. Anyone else have a similar experience? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
Hello folks. First let me start by stating that I am not only a Polaris noob but a ATV noob as well. Ok so the back story goes like this. My buddy bought a house some years back which included a barn. Inside that barn sat a Polaris Scrambler 400 4×4. This is all we know about it, other than the fact that it is white with purple graphics. So we started tinkering with it, found out the electronic start doesn’t work, no so much as a click noise or anything. We attempted this on a jump start from a car as there was no battery in the quad. It will start with the pull starter but wont idle on its own, you have to feather throttle. It has very weak brakes but other than that seems to be ok. We (buddy and I) want to start fixing it up. So here is the questions I have.
1. How do i find information on this thing like year, and engine (if there is more than one 400)
2. Where is the best place online to buy parts. Money is not an object as I know that you get what you pay for. What im looking for is the BEST place to buy (ie best selection, best quality stuff like that)
3. Where can I get manuals, shop manuals or any other texts on how to do repairs on this thing as I have no previous experience with ATV (car knowledge yes, atv knowledge no)

I am buying a used 2014 450 grizzly tomorrow and wanted to know what to look for. It only has 23 miles on it so I know it hasnt been used much. It was a year end model bought in 2015. I want to make sure I give it a thorough lookover before settling up with him. It looks great, it runs great. I just want to make sure everything is good. I got my butt handed to me when I bought my Jeep Cherokee and don’t want to do that again.
Thank you everyone who helped me out with the ATV trailer question I posted a week ago. Next big purchase is the snow plow package for my 2017 Max 570 XT.
I love how OEM stuff all fits together nicely and is plug and play but I’ve read a whole lot of great things about the Warn plows and I really want the Propivot that turns your plow automatically with a switch.
A very brief background. We had an acreage in Minnesota prior to moving to CA with the Air Force. I had a Polaris Ranger crew and plowed with it ALOT. I get really tired of getting off and on adjusting the blade all the time. We are moving to Ohio next and buying an acreage with 10-30 acres. One of them has a 1/2 Mile long driveway. I am most likely going to buy the stateplow to throw the snow a little farther then a straight.
Anyone using a Warn or Can-am plow heavily? I’m not new to plowing snow and know a tractor or truck will do it faster. I plow with the ATV or side by side because I enjoy it.
I have wanted an ATV for years, but never had the opportunity to get one. My wife and I were driving yesterday and she said let’s go look at that ATV there. We turned around and looked at it. 2014 450 EPS with 23 miles on it. It has a dry storage box on the rear rack, gun boot and mount, Crossbow mount, 2500lb warn winch, spotlight, and a 48" Blade. He wanted 6k for it I was able to get him to drop it to $5900.
He bought it brand new in 2015 and took it hunting one time. Spent 9k for it and the accessories. He had a heart attack shortly after purchasing and can’t hunt anymore. I plan to use it primarily for hunting, some yard work and of course some fun too. Looking forward to checking out the forum. I will need lots of help from the other riders.
