Clutch Cover

I have a 2000 Xplorer 400 2 stroke 4×4. Only 130 hrs on it when I bought it last year. Still had the stickers on the skid plate and tits on the original tires. Why does the clutch hit the cover when it’s run out?? How to fix it.

New member from Northern Alberta

Hi everyone. New to the wonderful world of ATVs as I just bought a couple of essentially brand new, matching 2002 Yamaha Kodiak 400s from a big city Emergency Response Services department, for dirt cheap.

I have a service manual for them, and am passionate about working with my hands, so I will be doing all of the work myself. I’ve already been through a few of the major components (carb rebuild, valve lashing check, etc…), done all of the regular maintenace and fluid changes, and watched endless videos on other topics. I love working on these things…probably should have become a mechanic lol.

This is the first forum where I believe I may be able to contribute to the discussions as I am already relatively familiar with the major components of the machines…so you’ll see me around.

Take care!

2002 Kodiak 400 Final Drive Issue

I was very fortunate and bought a couple of essentially new 2002 Kodiak 400s a month ago. I have a service manual for the machines, and changed the final drive fluid accordingly. After putting 43km’s of moose hunting on one of them today I noticed gear oil coming out of the overflow (up at the air intake). If I had to guess, I’d say the total amount spilled was less than a couple of tablespoons…just enough to cover most of the airbox top. I absolutely didn’t overfill it, nor was the oil milky.

In my online searches on this topic I’ve seen people say that the dealership told them that sustained high speeds on gravel or asphalt could result in such a leak, and someone else mentioned reversing at high speeds could also cause it. I did both today.

Does that sound accurate? If the high speed is the likely culprit, is it just that the oil is boiling and overflowing?

Thank you for your replies!

2006 Can Am Outlander 400 temperature light stays on

I am having problems with my temperature sensor. I took the electrical connection off and jumped it out. The fan comes on and stays on while jumped but the temperature light stays on. I have a full radiator and anti freeze reserve. Thoughts? How do I test to isolate the problem?
Additionally, I get a fail message occasionally. Usually this goes away.

Moose Plow Parts?

OK guys, need a little help here I have a 50" moose that came with the Grizz I bought this summer. The guy told me straight out he never had that plow mounted in the grizz, but in another ATV. Just said I would need some hardware, but for $200 I figured it was a good deal.

So what exactly do I need to make what is in the pics work with my 2005 Grizzly. Moose’s website was less than helpful….

Thank you in advance!
