How to adjust the clutch on utility atv’s
Ok gang, I see a lot of members, new and old ?..having trouble with their atv’s not wanting to move ?, jumping when put into gear ?. so here is a simple way to adjust your clutch for any atv model that has a auto clutch. here is how I do them, I will loosen the 14mm locking nut on the front cover, then I turn the center screw/bolt counter clockwise until I starts to feel tight ?. then I go back roughly 1/4 in clockwise, then I tighten down the lock nut while holding the center screw/bolt in place. now..to check to see if you adjusted it correctly ?, get on, start the atv up, with your left foot ( if your on a manual shift ? ), lift the foot shift lever up…AND HOLD IT THERE !, while doing this..rev the throttle..the atv should not move at all ?. let off on the throttle back down to idle. then let the foot shift lever back down. again..the atv should not move ” creep ” at all ?..until you give it throttle !. if it is idling to high ?..when you let the foot shift down..yes..it will move, ” creep ”. if for some reason it moves at all when you lift the foot shift lever up and holding it there..and it wants to move ?..then turn it off, go back and re-do the adjusting..because it is not right !. your aiming for a smooth shift..and to get a smooth shift ?..you have to have the clutch adjusted right !. ok..now your asking me..”ok shade..i did the adjusting like you said”..but it will not move ” ???..ok..then do this..if you look on the front cover for the words <— decrease, increase —-> ( these words maybe covered in mud ?..lol ) but they are they !!!. loosen the lock nut again, and turn the center nut some more clockwise, tighten down the lock nut while holding the center screw/bolt. then start it up, shift it into gear..and see if it ” grabs ” better ?..if it does not ?..then more than likely..your change clutch friction disk are worn too much ?..and no matter how many times you adjust the clutch ?..it won’t help !. you will need new friction disk. now..you can remove the front cover, ( drain the oil, or flip it on its rear end )…and pull the centrifugal clutch, then the change clutch, and get the friction disk out, and mic them, and see if they are still within spec’s ?, if they are out of service limit ?, then yes..you will need new friction disk. please keep in mind…YOU CAN NOT USE REG AUTO OIL IN ATVS !..THEY HAVE TO HAVE OIL MADE FOR ENGINES WITH A WET CLUTCH !!!..if you use reg auto oil ?..then the clutches will slip in due time !..and all your going to do is burn your clutches up !. I hope this helps at least one person on here ?..if not ?..well.i tried !..lol.
2003 Honda rancher 350 fm rolls while in gear instead of locking up
Hey everyone new to the site and I need a little help,
I have a 2003 Honda rancher 350 fm
Well I’m thinking I have a clutch problem ….
While the bike is off if I put it in gear I can push it back and forth instead of it locking up like it should anyone have any idea what could be doing that ? And it makes a noise (not a good one from the motor somewhere sounds like something broken) I’m guessing it’s my clutch or something – thanks for any help
90 cr125 clutch wont engage
my clutch wont engage. i can run through all the gear by running it at high rpms in neutral then dumping the clutch but it just drags or turns over in first with the clutch pulled in. the plates and disks are not stuck to one another but i am skeptical about the actuator arm (clutch lever) with the spring and cable off its loose as dick, should it be loose? i mean it feels like its literally touching nothing, just sitting in the hole flopping around. again i have the spring and cable off when it feel like this but i still feel like i should feel some resistance at some point of moving it up and down letting me know it is actually doing something and not just sitting in a hole. someone please try to make sense of this.
Help! 99 400ex has spark but wont run.
Hi guys, I have a 400ex my son drives was running good then all of a sudden wont run. I took out the spark plug cranked it over seems to be sparking little but dont think its enough. I sprayed starting fluid in the spark plug hole put the plug back in and it wont even fire. I downloaded the repair manual and started to check things out. I’m only getting about 44 volts at the coil when i crank it over. suppose to be 100v per manual. i checked the coils ohms and it is good. I checked the connection from the motor stator and still only 44v. i would think the stator is bad but the ohms test came out normal. Is it possible for a stator test to come out normal but not enough volts when cranking it over? Does anyone know what the ohms is suppose to be at the stator for sure? Please help don’t want to buy a stator if thats not the problem they are expensive.
any suggestions appreciated and thanks.
Dave

Rancher 420 Dying Battery
Ok I have a 2007 Rancher 420 Fuel Injected and my battery died a couple of weeks ago and it kind of stayed dead for a couple of weeks with me charging it every once in a while. I charged it before a trip to a weekend mud ride and it would start fine but every time I would cut it off and start it back up I could tell the battery was getting weaker and weaker and then it wouldn’t start so I got jumped off and in the middle of riding it just started sputtering and died. so I got tugged back to camp and put it on charge to 100% and then I went riding again and rode for a few hours and then it started sputtering and died out again. I believe this is the same problem I had last year when my battery completely died and I replaced it and it worked up until now. I was just trying to get some input to see if it could possibly be the stator, regulator, or just needing to drop another new battery in it again, a good OEM battery this time and not an Amazon battery.
ran fine, now no spark
Well I started up and rode my 2000 Honda foreman 450s a week ago started right up ran fine, parked it shut off. Went to try to start it this week and nothing, has no spark, so I tried a different spark plug. Still no spark, so what could be the cause of this issue?

Need help selecting correct carburetor
Just so I know which is the correct one, which should I choose for my 2000 350S 4×4?
They are both the same price. What is the difference between the two # 15’s?
