newbie with my first bike!

Hey guys, just got my first bike (08 Rancher) its a lil rough around the edges, and by edges I mean cv joints. Has a lil knocking sound coming from the front joints and also a torn boot. Gonna tear into it tn and see what I find….woohoo! Also any recomendations on cv joint/axle brands? I’ve seen good and bad for most everything.

Newbie with a 87 trx350

After numerous google searches leading me here, i figured I should register.

Just picked it up Sunday night. Gave $800 for it and it does need some repairs. And I hope to get some items some backyard mechanic did instead of fixing the issue in the first place.

I’ll have to get pictures tomorrow when I go to work on it some.

-Definitely have a carb issue.
-choke lever does not move, don’t know if it is cable or something stuck in the carb
-Needs from wheel bearings.
-Left lower steering knuckle is loose.
-pivot arm bushings
-needs a axle shaft boot clamp
-misc bolts
-rear rack
-new battery
-winch controller
-wiring fixed: They wired the fuel pump and cooling fan on a switch.
-stud the tires

I have a few months to get it all done, I got this primarily to drag my gear around for ice fishing.

Newbie from Muskego, WI with ’86 Fourtrax 70

Greetings everyone from a long time minibike, dirtbike, ATV, snowmobile, car, etc guy!

In 2002 I bought an ’86 Fourtrax 70 for my oldest daughter for her 5th birthday. It’s been a great little bike and all the kids have had a blast with it. No real issues other that general maintenance until now. Here’s where I need some help…

Suddenly, it won’t shift into neutral (and therefore won’t start). Rather than bypass the neutral safety switch I’d like to figure out why it won’t shift properly. It shifts into all 4 gears fine but not neutral.

I’m not opposed to pulling the whole thing apart and going through all the systems… it’s probably due! But before I split the case, are there any suggestions on how to get it to shift properly?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Paul

Hey yall hows everyone doin tonight? New to the site and wanted to say he to everyone. I ride an 82 Honda 200 3 wheeler. Needs some work but still great fun to ride. New member thats been lurkin for a while.

Hello all,

Been looking at the forum for a while and used a good amount of resources from the site since buying a used 02 TRX 350 4×4 es.

I’ve had a hankering for some time now to go look at some of the 2015 models and am now getting an itchy trigger finger for a Rubi. Been seeing prices around upper 6’s to mid 7’s depending on options.

I was wondering about add ons and the dealer prices vs. going aftermarket and also fit and finish of such goodies. Specifically the underarmor like a-arm guards and what about the skid plate, I run through a ton of thick brush w/ my 02 and see no need for the skid plate on the rancher but is there any reason the irs of the rubi would need it as far as the brush getting caught up in the underside worse than my older unit.

Just looking for suggestions and good knowledge from those w/ more experience than I

Don’t hesitate to shoot any other info my way as I like a bit of opinion to chew on.

Thanks

yet another newbie with a honda trx 300 fw

Hello there! Now when I say newbie, I really mean newbie. However, I’m like a sponge and welcome any and all knowledge. So here’s my problem…one day in sunny central Oregon the boyfriend and I decided to go shed hunting. He loaded the 4 Wheeler up on the trailer, hooked on and off we were. While doing 55mph on the hwy we heard a weird noise, and in the rear view mirror saw the trailer speeding away with my 4 Wheeler strapped on it. Long story short, it did a few flips before slamming into a ditch thanks to the boyfriend who forgot to lock the hitch to the ball:( after nursing her back to health for a few weeks, I am down to one thing to have her complete and up and running again..the rear final drive. I ordered and received a differential housing unit only to find out that honda no longer makes the case cover…. please help!!!!!! Is there there any way around this without having to order the whole differential for an additional $600? I know 88-00 works for my 94, but I’m not having any luck finding this only piece I need!!! Thank you all for listening to me wine:)

Hello from Mid-MO

Hello everyone. New to the site, but have wrenched on ATV’s and bikes for years. Have had lots of bikes, but no 4-wheelers til just recently. A farmer gave me a ’94 trx200d that was sitting in the weeds. I’ve got $65 dollars in it: new chain, rear brake shoes, and hand brake cable. The big problem? He kept the wheels! So I’ve got a Wheeler all ready to ride, but no wheels. I’ve found some wheels off a recon that I think will fit, they’re 12 inch front, and 10 inch rear. The bolt pattern is the same, just wondering about tire height. I cannot find any stock size wheels without buying new ones. Any thoughts? Mike
