NW Oregon new guy…

I been lurking around here for a couple weeks and finally bit the bullet, I’m 38, married, 3 kids, and a shop full of quads and bikes

2003 Foreman 450s
2005 Grizzly 125
1996 Honda 90
1978 XR 75
1977 CR125
2005 Yamaha Zuma
2000 LEM 50
2005 BuellXB12Scg

Whew! Glad that’s over, I been riding since I was 5, started on mini bikes my grandpa would fix up for me and my brothers(3 of them), I had a DrzSM for awhile then moved up to a GSXR and now my Buell

My Foreman is literally that, it’s been my workhorse for many years but lately I’ve been tryin to get it out to have some fun, my wife love to hop on with me and just enjoy the scenery at our new ShingleMill ORV park

About time I said hello!

Greetings, friends, from a first time poster but long time lurker and reader of these pages. Let me express my thanks to you all for helping me gain the confidence in Honda and their maintainability to finally purchase my first ATV on February 27 of this year.

Now, I respect the, shall we say, "mature" perspective, of some members (like Shadetree) who prefer carburetors to FI, but I have sinned in his eyes, I freely admit it! But in addition to that shortcoming, I have appreciated, unlike some here, the attitude of restraint that characterizes many of our moderators. I mean, from what I can tell, they just want our machines to last, and hey, so do I! I can see that the world of mud is awesome, I just don’t like to get dirty, so I have been able to receive "longevity" tips here that I have really appreciated!

My machine is a red 2014 Rancher ES 2wd – GASP – another sin! But hey, I am scrawny, and prior to my purchase, every 4wd Honda I had driven wore my girl arms out, so go easy on me! 🙂 Now i know that they probably had/have bearing and/or steering stem issues. I know more than their owners do thanks to you all!

I got my Rancher new old stock this year cause my wallet is scrawny, too, but it sure has been impressive! Thanks also to my friend, Kentco, for all the tips and help to all my questions via PM – he is a great guy that really knows the modern stuff!

I did both the reverse mod and the ES grease nightmare (never a problem if she is warm enough) before I rode her the first time, I have done my first oil change (at 20 miles for the sake of manufacturing particles – up to 194 as of today) and changed the diff oil – loads of metal dust at 120 miles – yikes! Last night I removed my front wheels to clean my front discs – they had started to squeak, but now she is as good as ever.

I am 34 and had never ridden an ATV till about 2 years ago – thanks to my friends near West Point, TN, who took me riding, and this site, I am now proud to ride red!

Thanks for all the help and for the great community!

Greetings everyone… I joined this site about 3 weeks ago and am finally getting around to this.

I have ridden ATV’s since I was a kid starting out on a Honda 70 3 wheeler.
I have had a 185s and 250R 3 wheeler plus a CR250 and a Suzuki RM250 dirt bikes back when I was a teenager, now im an old fart at 44 lol.

Anyways now I recently bought a 2000 Honda Foreman 450s from an old man that used it around his farm to check his cows and whatever else he did. He bought a new Honda utility vehicle and I bought this from him and realized why the hell I waited so long to get back into it…

Look forward to talking to you all on here, I like the site from what I have read it is very informative.

Take it easy,
Michael
