Honda Foreman Rubicon 500 Issue

I have a 2004 Honda Foreman Rubicon 500 with issues with the Hondamatic transmission. I have found out the original issue as to why it stopped shifting in the first place which was that the rectifier (regulator) went bad, frying the battery and the ECM. I have replaced the computer but not the battery yet. It continues to flash code 5 (I do believe it had a code 4 before but I might be wrong, assume I am for the time being). I have erased the code but it comes back. Should I just replace the battery due to the fact that it is bad? Could it cause the code due to the fact that it doesn’t have enough voltage to send to the sensors?

88 fourtrax running rough

Haven’t posted in a while because my atv has been doing pretty well. But today I took it out and washed it and now I’ve got an issue. It ran just fine before I washed it but afterwards, I drove it for about ten seconds and then all of the sudden it stopped running properly. Even with the throttle wide open it wouldn’t run faster than an idle speed. I thought maybe I got some water in the fuel or air intake…? Any ideas?

Barnyard find

First post. Hope it’s in the right section. I recently bought a nice clean old fourtrax 300. It is pretty much new and sat in a barn for many years with the original tags on it etc. A farm family then bought it for their son and he rode it for a couple years. Not much from the looks of her. It’s a 95 300 fourtrax. Runs great. Starts in a fraction of a second with no choke. Tires are checked and about 30# tread on original good years. So It will need new tires. But other than that I can’t seam to find anything to tweak or button up on this old Honda. Any do or die maintenance any of you would recommend? Other than the basic carb, oil, plug stuff? It just strikes me as strange that everything seams to be good to go…. Normally when i buy an old machine (even if it is minty) it needs something done to it. Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. I just don’t want to jump on this thing and run it down a trail missing some basic Honda maintenance that everyone knows about other than me. Thanks.

Site glass

Hope these questions do not sound simply, but I am a newbie trying to learn. There is a site glass on the opposite side of the engine from where you check your oil. What is this for, and should I be changing something there for maintenance? It is hard to see through and I think this is probably due to age (similar to brake fluid reservoir site glass)

fourtrax 300 starter engaging

I just got another fourtrax 300 4×4 and have an electrical problem. The atv came without a battery and the kick start does not work. I went to install a new battery, I attached the positive terminal, but as soon as I touched the ground terminal the starter would start cranking. So I think the solenoid is sticking and replace it with a brand new one, but same problem. With the new solenoid as soon as I touch the negative terminal with the black wire the starter starts cranking. It will do this even with the key not in the ignition. What do you think is causing this issue?
