Reviving the war horse

Finally got my old ’86 TRX back to running condition. Still needs a bit of spit and polish, but at least it runs. This quad has been dead reliable the whole time I’ve owned it(typical Honda) but a teenage son can be hard on stuff! Being that it is an OLD machine, and parts are hard to come by upgrades are done creatively. Swapped wheels with a Rancher several years ago for better tire options, but the exhaust was a sticking point. Well, got crazy with the sawzall over the weekend and pieced together a setup with left-over parts from a 400EX I used to have. It’s still a work in progress, but at least I have a solid, mostly non-leaky, "aftermarket" exhaust system now.

1986 FourTrax TRX200SX – Electric start issue

Good Afternoon All! My name is Joe and this is my first post on this forum. I recently purchased a 1986 FourTrax TRX200SX for my kids to scoot around the ranch on… A month ago the electric start performed flawlessly, but now it seems like it can barely crank, and definately won’t start the engine. The engine starts fine when I manually pullstart… but it cranks slow, at about 60 or 70 rpm, and wont fire.

The battery was fully charged when I tried to crank it over… and I hooked it up to my charger while I was trying to crank it over, and still NO JOY. I don’t want to rip it apart if it’s something simple, so any help here would be great.

DCT and Oil Question

When test riding the new 2015 Rubicon with DCT I noticed there is no "Park" setting. When in DCT, do I have to put it in Neutral or can I leave it in Drive when shutting down?

When starting up….and in ESP mode….can I shut down and start up in 1st gear? I’m assuming that the ESP won’t let you start up anything other than 1st?

What grade oil is recommended for year around use?
