In my shop so I am limited on my cell phone searching. Trying to get the right front axle out on a 2009 550. Does it pull out like the rear axles? I have pried it and yanged on it without luck.
New to the forum here and first of all I want to say thanks for all the info, I have been reading for a few years and finally joined.
Alright, so right now I have an 2005 660 that is getting a little worn out so I will be buying a new used 700 when the opportunity arises. I’m looking for some suggestions on some tires. My ATV’s are mainly used as tools, and not toys. I use them to get to a cabin I have out in the woods, and the trail is very rough and quite often I’m not even on a trail. In the summer, its really, really muddy. And its all nasty clay. I also do a lot of riding in the winter when the ground is froze solid and before the snow gets too deep too.
So, from my experiences soft tires seem to work better and then we add tire chains for more traction in the mud, snow, and hopping over logs etc. My buddies and I have had a variety of tires over the years like Good Year Mud Runners, outlaws, and silver backs. Those are great in the mud, but by the time the ground freezes, they just slide around and spin and I’m sure you all know what happens next.
Bottom line, I looking for some guidance on a mild to aggressive soft tire. Also, if anyone could guess on what the biggest size I could fit on a stock 700 with the addition of tire chains. With out having a 700 in front of me now, I’m guessing maybe 27’s will fit? I would be really happy if 28’s do.
Thank you for any help!
P.S. I know I’ll probably have to do something with the clutch.
Just bought some wheels and tires for my 600 grizzly. Ordered 28x9x12/28x11x12 Mega Mayhems, and STI HD3 wheels. 5+2 in the front and 2+5 in the back. Could anyone tell me if this will widen my quad much? I want it at least an inch wider on each side. Thanks guys! Will post pictures when they arrive!
Anybody know much about these tires? I have found very little discussion about them in any forum. Some threads in SxS places. The tire looks to be every bit as durable as a Bighorn and is probably better suited for mud. They are a 6 ply radial and heavy like the BH, but I like the looks of the tread pattern better. Would like to hear anyone with experience on them.
Hi i purchased a set of tires and rims from a 2003 yamaha grizzly 660 to put on my 1998 yamaha grizzly 600, my question is for the rear what size shims do i need to purchase, the tires are the same size, just the rims from my 98 is 10", the new set i want to put on are 12"
thanks
I just ordered a set of 27 zillas on 12" sedona spyders for my 700. I have done a good bit of research and still a little unsure big I can go without lifting. I’m not totally opposed to lifting as long as its not too much stress on the bike. Im wondering if I can go to 28s without lifting and would those be ok on the clutch and axles. I do want the biggest tire I can go with to get it off the ground and able to run in deeper water. Bike is completely stock. I dont mud ride or trail ride but use it on a cattle farm and run in flooded fields duck hunting mostly.
I’m looking for a more trail friendly tire for the 450.thinking about getting the 26 inch bighorns but am worried about a couple things.has anyone have the 9 inch fronts mounted on the itp ss 212? i have the 10 inch front mud bugs now and there’s not much rim protection.also how do the bighorns do in snow(anywhere from 0 to 24 inchs breaking trail)?
Well I just bought a set of ITP 212’s and Bighorn OG stock size 25x8x12 and 25x10x12. They are for my 2012 550. Will I need to do any clutch mods add shims or will the power difference not be that bad?
