Big tires in the front?

Want to put 28-11-12 mega mayhems in front and back on new 2016 grizzly. Got a buddy that has 27-12-12 kenda executioners all the way around and seems to do very well in mud and skeg. Another advantage is a guy could rotate them for wear. Anybody else run wide tires all the way around?

Black Diamond Weight and Size Question

Hey guys,

I have been running Vamps for about a year and a half and are looking for a tire that is a letter well mannered on rocky trails as I have been taking vacations to NC riding old rocky switchbacks. I still ride alot of dirt roads and like to dip in a mud hole here and there. The rocky trails we ride are dangerous without lateral traction as you may fall off the mountian! However I do not want to go with a tire whose sole purpose is rock riding and get stuck when I am back home.

I like what I see out of the black diamonds just trying to figure out exactly what size to get. The weight chart for the 26’s say the 11" wide is a pound lighter than the 10" wide??? I have been searching for a definitive answer on true height as well. Some say they run true size at 26 and others say they run short. Any advice would be appreciated.

Was thinking maybe 11 in back and 9 or 10 up front. The 26×12 vamps that run big really robbed my HP and looking to get a little back. Not sure if the 2 lbs per set or 2 inches in width for rear will make the biggest difference.

26x10x12 – 28.2lb
26x11x12 – 27.3lb

Going to 27" from oem 25’s-help

So I am looking at the new Bear Claw HTR’s in 27" size on my stock oem 12" wheels but I’d like some help with info and advice. They are going on a 2013 Grizz 700 EPS.

I am going 27" for ground clearance and with the price involved it doesn’t seem to make sense to go one inch taller from 25".

I have a few questions though.

I know I’ll loose bottom end performance which can be gained back with a clutch kit but I read the other day that fuel mileage drops as a result of taller tires. How bad will it get? Will the clutch kit gain that back?

How will the taller tires affect my Tric rapid mount snow plow?

Was also told that any aftermarket wheel would add 1" each side because of offset so I am looking for oem steel wheels to put the tires on.

Anything else I should know?

UTV(ish) tires on ATV?

I’ve been looking at some tires that are more traditionally for UTV’s. I ride trails, rocks, fire roads and light mud (and hopefully some light to moderate snow if it ever comes down here in NY this year!)

Anyway, for some reason, "directional" tires are not aesthetically appealing to me. I really like the look of non-directional tread patterns. The tires I am drawn to include some of the following:

ITP Blackwater Evos
CST Clinchers
CST Behemoths
STI Rocktanes

This is for a 2016 Kodiak 700. I want to keep the stock tire size of 25×8-12 and 25×10-12 because I don’t want to make the quad any wider.

The Blackwaters are my favorite, but they only come wider, in 25×9-12 and 25×11-12 otherwise I would get them for sure.

But I guess the main purpose of this question to you all is that since these are primarily designed for UTVs do you think that would be a problem?

HTR’s on aftermarket steel rims 1″ wider

I just went to look at a set of 27" htr’s today for my stock 12" wheels and I like the height but didn’t have a stocker to compare side by side.

I have to admit for an 8ply tire I was surprise that it weighed less than I thought it would.

One thing though. The tire dealer I was talking to said if I got aftermarket wheels to mount the htr’s on it would increase the width of the machine by one inch on each side, so two inches wider front and back compared to if I mounted them on the oem Yamaha wheels as he said for some reason the offset on aftermarket rims is always different.

I’m not sure if I like that. We ride mostly two up on our 2013 700EPS so I need some feedback.

My first thoughts are to get a set of take off oem rims and save myself the extra 2" in width.

What are your thoughts considering we ride two up?
