Diff Lock Benefits??

Upgrading to 4WD and considering 2016 Rubicon and Rancher. Main difference seems to be diff lock.

What type of riding is improved with diff lock? Rock crawling I guess? What about snow and ice?? That would be more common for me. Thanks!!

Price on 03 450s Foreman

I have found a 03 450s for sale, near my home in Indiana. Assuming the pics I’ve seen represent the machine as they seem to what’s the top dollar on this quad. All plastic looks good, no noticeable scratches, all factory stickers are present even the warning stickers and the color is’t faded. No rips in the seat and the racks aren’t beat up. Also has after market wheels and tires, I think they are ITP but not sure. It has 335 hours and 1600 miles, owner is asking 3600, what do y’all think? What’s thing worth assuming it’s in as good shape as appears to be.

Which atv

Hey all. I’m new to the site but I’ve been reading some threads and doing some research. I’m in the market for a new atv and need help deciding what to get. I’ve been looking at a 2016 Yamaha kodiak, 2015 or 2016 Honda rancher 4×4, and Foreman 4×4. This at will mainly be used for hunting and some trail riding. I think I want a foot shift if I went with a Honda since auto or electric shift will be one more thing to fall. Power steering and IRS would be nice but not needed. I also want to keep the price to under 6700 after taxes and the dealer fees. I’ve talked to one dealer who has a 2016 Kodiak for $5999 which looks like a pretty good deal.

Title transfer Review???

I just received a letter from the States department of taxation. Claiming that they figure I owe an additional $468.16 of sales tax on the last quad I purchased. The title transfer shows $250.00 and they state that average selling price of my quad is $6397.27!!! Hell that’s more than I paid for my original 700 off the show room floor, after including all tax title & 3 yrs financing at 2.9% NADA shows current retail on a 2008 Honda Trx700xx between $2500 and $3290 which is right inline with what I see them going for.

Has anyone else been flagged? A friend told me to toss letter in the trash, if it was serious it would of been sent certified mail. Also I contacted seller and he said, he has not herd anything about it or been contacted. At the bottom of letter it says punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or six (6) months imprisonment, or both!

BTW tile was marked $2500 and clerk at title place said $250.00 I laughed to myself and said yeah $250. On all atv’s I purchased and transfer’d titles they never ask condition of quads, like they always do on atv’s. No when I purchased the state plate, they ask, about lights, exhaust, ect but nothing at ttile place.

How much to offer on 2016 Rubicon

My dealer is out of 2015 Rubicon FA6 but has a $9100ish 2016 model…they give their discount in addition to the $250 Honda discount and he quoted me $8100…then he said all the fees put it at about $8500 BEFORE taxes…any idea what I should offer or try to negotiate? Those $400 in fees are so aggrevating.

Should I trade???

I have the opportunity to trade my 2002 Scrambler 500 4×4 for one of two Big Red 250es. Both are in phenominal shape, one is mint with original plastics, one is mint with aftermarket plastics. Scrambler is in great shape with some faded plastics. I have other quads to satisfy any utility/family needs, so this one is for me. I rode trikes as a kid, and had a BR awhile ago that I restored, but sold it before I had a chance to take it on the trails (offer was just to good). I guess the question is which one am I going to have more fun on? I ride in New England so trails aren’t really the type where speed is going to be a factor so much as technical fun and of course mud. Thoughts??

Buying 2016 Rancher EPS DCT IRS

Hey all, my father is looking at buying a Rancher 420 for hunting, fishing, and trail riding. He’s not too concerned about top speed speed, as long as he can do 45-50 miles per hour when he hits the smooth fire roads, he’s happy.

He’s mainly concerned about low end power and reliability. His current quad is a straight axle Suzuki Vinson, and it’s starting to get a little tired. Before that he owned a Fourtrax 250, and was very impressed with the durability and quality of it. He also liked the Vinson, but he’s looking for something with IRS to be more comfortable on longer trips.

He will ride occasionally with a passenger, but their combined weight won’t exceed 300 pounds and he’s very cautious in rough terrain. We’ve rode 2 up on the Vinson for years, and never had an issue by just using common sense and reducing speed and using caution in rough areas. I’m not asking if Honda recommends riding 2 up, I know they don’t, but for those of you with Ranchers, as long as you take it easy and the passenger is small and light, would it be OK on a Rancher? He doesn’t want the added complexity and maintenance of a Can-Am or Arctic Cat 2 Up, and he refuses to even consider Polaris, not that I blame him. He wants something that doesn’t require a whole lot of intensive maintenance and he holds Honda in high regard. Would he be making the right choice with a Rancher?
